Lots of snow on the trail at this time, epic beautiful views. Saw many animals tracks including elk, moose, deer, wolf/coyote and bear but no animals revealed themselves :)

This hike is probably great when conditions are good. We went just after a freak snowstorm so there was still snow all over the trail. Plus we came across 5 instances of downed trees across the trail that we scrambled around. Ended up turning back with maybe a mile, mile and a half left to the top. Didn’t see anyone else on the trail until we got back to the bottom, closer to the lake.

First off this was a great hike but it is overgrown, and it had rained that morning and 3/4 of the trail is overgrown so my legs, socks and boots were soaked. It is a quiet trail, I was on it by myself. Unfortunately it was cloudy/foggy at the top so the views weren't great and the lookout cabin was closed for the season. It is a good steady climb and I would do it again.

Beautiful views and a great chance to talk to the lookout ranger who lives at the top! I also came across a black bear eating berries along the way.

This was bowman lake head hike. Started out cloudy. Cleared by noon.

Hit the trail in mid-August. Started 1045 and finished by 1400 and were the only souls on the trail. We did not visualize any bears, but stay bear aware! Lots of signs of their presence. Pack a lot of water, it gets warm by the time the switch backs hit. Have fun, this is worth it for the scenery and finish by bowman lake!

no signs of bears today. the lady that lives at the top was super nice. invited us up to view from tower, and answered all of our questions.

The trail was nice and easy to hike. It had rained the night and a little in the morning. I was point man so basically cleared the rain water off for my hiking partner behind me. Not much to view until you move beyond the tree line. Once you hit the higher elevation and hit the switch backs its a relief and as you look back over Bowman Lake. The clean air, sight, and isolation makes it worth the hike up.

Excellent trail that give you a very good experience of the diversity of Glacier on the west side of the park. Doesn’t get to difficult until the last couple of miles. Make plenty of noise saw plenty of clues bears were in the area but thankfully we did not see any.

A nice hike with fantastic views for the last mile and a quarter. The rest of the trail is in the woods with very little scenery. The trail is also overgrown so morning hikes will be soggy from the waist down. Once you clear the trees and get to the steeper section near the top the trail is worth the effort. The trail is rated "hard" and I agree. I did the 12 miles round trip (from parking lot at Bowman) in 4.5 hours which was pushing it hard. If you take your time it wouldn't be as tough.

Relative to the effort the reward is just ok, not great. Positives: Not many people, nice views at top, comfortable well maintained trail. Negatives: Very buggy all the way including at the top, the lookout tower appeared to be closed to the public when we arrived - there was a chain across the staircase leading up to the lookout with a "privacy" sign. Also noticed several people in the tower - perhaps it was rented/reserved? Is this possible? So after a long hike, we never got to go up to the tower, sat outside under the the tower and got eaten alive by mosquitos and flies. Compared to other hikes in Glacier this is average at best

This was a somewhat tiring hike near the end, but a fun challenge. The signs at the beginning warn of the frequency of bear sightings so we made sure to talk (almost yell!) as we walked to keep the bears at a safe distance. We saw almost no people along the way and we were gifted beautiful views at the top. I only wish we had brought more food to enjoy during our lunch break looking out over the mountain ridges and lakes!

Views from the top are nice, but not amazing. not too hard, just long.

Fantastic hike! Gets a little difficult towards the end due to steeper elevation gain from the switch backs. However, the views at the top are totally worth it. Pack a lunch to relax at the top and enjoy the panoramic views before your hike down. From the top you can see Bowman Lake, Akokala Lake, and Long Bow Lake. Make sure to pack bear spray and make noise on the trail. A bear was sighted the day before we hiked this trail. Also this is a great hike if you want to get away from the busy crowds. Didn’t see much people on the trail.

Excellent hike to Nina ridge lookout with the start being at bowman lake. There were two negatives for me personally and that was 1) the mosquitos (crazy) and 2) a lengthy dirt road to get to the trail. However that also allows you to go to Polebridge which is an exceptionally cool little town (if you can even call it that) with baked good that are to die for.

This trail is long and has a steady incline until about 1.5 miles til the end, and then it gets very steep. GORGEOUS views at the top! Hiked on 6/5/18, lots of down trees and is pretty overgrown in some areas. Took about 3.5 hours to get to the top, and 2 hours to come down.

Tough trail. Lots of downed trees on trail required under, over around and through technique. Super views.

This is a tough hike as it's a steep uphill all the way. For me, that took three hours (and slightly less on the decent). The views of Bowman Lake and the surrounding area are fantastic, though, and this is a great day hike. We went during the day and were able to talk to the person in the fire lookout and get a quick lesson of his set-up and instruments, which was also cool.

Very nice hike. not very strenuous. Interesting area thru the hike. Especially the multiple areas of thick huckleberry patch you have to hike through. Keep the noise up and the bear spray handy. The view from the lookout is incredible and well worth the hike.

Great day hike- -less populated area of GNP. Awesome views from the lookout- - the 2900 foot elevation gain is nicely spaced over the 5.6 mile hike from Bowman Lake.
