A great walk to enjoy with out-of-town visitors. Please note dogs must be on leash (and their waste removed, please) to protect wildlife. Deer are frequently seen, and sometimes moose or bear may be encountered. Lots of birdwatchers use the trail to spot great gray owls, bald eagles, great blue heron and scores of smaller birds and ducks..

Mc Clay flats is always a beautiful and pleasant walk. When you add going up the falfing course you get some good exercise and there are so many options you never have to do an out and back

A lot of people, especially on the river. Not a bad thing except people have dogs off leash and don’t pick up after their animals. Lots of dog crap on the trail, despite their being free dog poop bags available. Also, people had trash laying around them on the river bank, sure hope they packed it out.

I love taking my dog on this trail because there are leash laws and he gets dog aggressive. However there are so many people who do NOT follow the leash laws, which is not just a shame for my dog, but also a shame for the beautiful wildlife that lives down here. It'ss a great place to see all types of birds, pileated woodpeckers, owls, meadowlarks. I had a turtle come right out of the underbrush onto the trail at me yesterday. It's a peaceful place. Please be respectful of wildlife and others, keep your dogs on a leash.

This trail is okay. it's seanic veiws are mediocre at best. for sure use bug repellant before starting this trail. It has a decent size Creek but the whole area is an overflow zone of the creek. lots of still water that hasn't gone away from the snow melt which means lots of mosquitos. So it's not bad, but it definitely isn't great. I imagine it would be great for children or people with limited mobility since it is flat; you could take a wheelchair on it.

It was a beutiful trail we went on memorial day weekend of 2019 with lots it's of trees and birds as well as other wildlife. It only took about an hour to walk the outer loop 14.01 it takes you along an man made canal and along the river at one point. We took our dog, it is required that dogs be leashed as there are bear and moose. Overall a beutiful trial

Lovely trail constantly splattered with dog excrements, despite the free poop bag dispenser and conveniently located trash can. Stroller and river access. Forested and open areas. Great year round, depending if you prefer your dog feces on a white background. Can get partially flooded in spring with lots of mosquitoes. Otters, owls, eagles, great blue herons, waterfowl, did I mention dog crap?

First time actually using the app to record our walk. We walked off course at the river! Stunning and beautiful and peaceful. My hubby has a bad back, so this flat path was perfect. Nice benches along the way, and such changes in the ecosystems along the path. Great for dog watching, all we’re friendly but were off leash.

I looooove this trail during all seasons because it's gorgeous and different every time of the year. In the spring and early summer, there's a canal on one side of the trail that my pup likes. There's also a nice wading area along the river. My only complaint with this trail is that dogs have to be leashed. Not a deal breaker though.

Went with my daughter and my two year granddaughter for her first hike today. She loved it. She loved throwing pebbles in the river. Exploring mosses and lichen on the trees. Saw dragonflies and osprey. Just the best experience ever.

Awesome for kids! My toddler had a blast looking at birds, bugs, pinecones, and throwing rocks into the river. Easy gravel/dirt trail. Lots of shade. Minimal foot traffic on a weekend morning. The river is beautiful!

Nice short walk but the mosquitoes were terrible, had to run the last half of the trail to escape them

Good to go, all clear! The river trail is clear, although it’s cut about 2 feet back from the flood, which makes it interesting. A little saturated still towards the end, but good! At the big puddle the trail is clear to the left and then you can wade through the small stream after that or you can take the tall grass trail to the right, which I did. The rest of the way is clear. Remember Bug spray!! Not even a spot of mud on my dogs feet!
