Trail were nice maintained. Did it in winter so we had to park 1 mile from trailhead. Added extra mileage on our hike. The view was worthy. Very gorgeous.

Hiking

We hike pretty fast but it was a perfect half day hike - we were up and down in under 3 hrs. Strava/Suunto had our distance at 10.5miles. Beautiful fall foliage - one of the best trails in the area and wasn’t busy today. We maybe saw 3 other groups. It’s a gentle and manageable grade up to the lake with tons of spots to take picture by the creek. Not super technical - absolutely perfect for a group of mixed levels. Would be perfect Trail for a Trail runner - highly recommend to anyone in the area.

It is a little longer than 9.8 miles! Worth it though!

Easy. Would only say easy moderate due to length.

A great hike. It is a well maintained trail, with plenty of traffic. We were on the trail 9/26/20, there's a lot of water puddles in the walking path, so I would recommend waterproof hiking boots or hiking shoes.

Wonderful hike, enjoyed the trip. Took kids and inflatables up to the lake, which is gorgeous. It's a pretty easy hike, not a lot of very steep places. Highly recommend!

The sign at the beginning of the trail said bring bear spray. We saw several people with it and wish we would have remembered it. We turned back after a couple miles because we didn’t feel comfortable without it. It is grizzly country. Nice shaded easy trail beside a stream.

On the easy side of moderate, trail is long but really gradual. The lake has plenty of places to sit and relax. Very pretty.

Lots of water features along the way and ample shade. The lake is beautiful and well worth the hike. It is rocky so wear boots.

HikingGreat!

Easier hike than the East Rosebud Lake to Elk Lake hike. Not too rocky. Gradual incline. Enjoyed hiking right next to the creek. Really enjoyed the Broad Lake 3/4 mile before Lost Lake.

This trail is amazing! Very gentle incline the entire way which makes it easy to enjoy the gorgeous views :) Be sure you don't miss the left turn-off to Lost Lake Trail #22! I ended up tracking the entire hike at about 10.8 miles which was a bit longer than expected!

The trail follows the creek nearly the entire way. There's a fairly steep section rather early on, but don't let that deter you. It's mostly pretty gradual. The path is fairly rocky as others have described, but there are several spots where it is smooth packed dirt, offering a welcome respite in between rockier sections. Don't miss a stop at Broadwater Lake, about 45 minutes before Lost Lake.

Awesome trail. The gradual climb to the lake was well worth it in the end. Absolutely beautiful the entire time. My dogs enjoyed the river and chased off any hope of fish at the lake. I saw a ton jumping though. Would love to do an overnight trip next time.

Great trail for beginner hikers. Very shaded and cool most of the way and not very much elevation gain within the first 5 miles. We took two six year olds and they made it just fine and fished all day! Great hike, worth the trip.

Beautiful trail! My pup and I hiked this today and loved it. Lots of shade from pine trees most of the way and plenty of stream water for him. Once you see the sign on the left for Lost Lake it is only about another 5 minute walk from there. Although we didn't encounter any horses on the trail there are definite signs that they frequent it (read: lots of horse droppings).

Easy hike if you’re in shape. Incline is gradual and spaced with flat stretches. The trail is well defined, pretty rocky most of the way (watch your footing), heavily wooded most of the way and open in little meadow gaps. Trail follows a beautiful stream with a mountain background! Moose habitat! No sitings, but it’s always good to be proactive and make your presence known - for bears too :) Good hike for building confidence solo hiking. Was on the trail at 8 am and was already running into other hikers. Was in and out in 3 hours plus a couple minutes hiking at a good pace! The trail to the lake is easy to overlook, but once you’re on it it’s easy to follow. Download the all trails map and you’ll be fine. The lake is gorgeous! Perfect place to eat lunch and swim! Fish were jumping bring a rod! The trail is more like 11 miles from start to finish.
