Lolo Trail Via Howard Creek is a 28.4 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Lolo, Montana that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is best used from May until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

The trail starts in a a damp forest and then climbs up into drier, sunnier mountain terrain. There is constant noise from the highway though I only hiked a couple miles before turning back. The only flowers I saw were buttercups and blue bells though it was very early in the year. According to my iPhone, the buttercups were at 46.770556, -114.445278 and the blue bells were at 46.770833, -114.443889. The place was infested with ticks so take precautions if you go during tick season. Overall, I'd say that there are better trails to hike early in the year (April). I'll update this if I happen to go again.
