Scenic drivingBugsNo shade

The trail head was very busy on a Saturday. But it seems, that we were arriving, just as everyone else was heading out. By the time we made it to the lake, we were the only ones there. We got back to our car just before sunset, and we're the only car in the lot. I talked to two other groups, we meet, who said the fishing was poor. It was poor for us, as well. The wind was pretty intense up on the flats, and at Line Lake, but it would occasionally die down for a brief reprieve. I would, (and did), bring a wind breaker. The hike itself was a little harder than easy, mainly due to the ups and downs at nearly 10,000ft elevation. Also the turn off of the main trail, to Line Lake, was a bit hard to spot. However, we were warned ahead of time, so we used a GPS to help us find it. The turn is just past the state line. All in all, a good hike. But if you are in search of solitude, I would try a weekday hike.

This trail was fun and beautiful but I do not think it is an easy trail by any means, more moderate. No shade so wear sunscreen and a hat. Bugs were annoying at times but then would go away. You will go up and down so kinda kills the legs after a while! Otherwise beautiful!

When you meet the fork in the trail near the lake. The trailhead to the right is not that visible.

Beautiful view and the drive up to the trailhead is gorgeous. It is not well marked so make sure you follow the map it’s easy to end up on the other trail that follows the ridge. There are some muddy spots and you have to cross the creeks twice but all around a beautiful hike.
