On 08/26/2020 we did 2 night backpacking trip to Kintla lake campground. You need to drive over 15 miles on gravel road to get to the trail. This is a very good trail for first time backpacker. The second day we hiked to Upper Kintla campground. It’s only 5.9 miles one way to Upper Kintla campground. Both campgrounds are few feet away from the lake and you can take a dip. The water was not too cold.

This is a really good trail for beginner hikers and those with children looking to get some experience with long distance. The trail is mellow and well defined. I also did not see any bears or bear scat. Currently there is no overnight parking at the Kintla Campground. Also the AllTrails directions didn’t exactly work for me. It’s easy though, follow them to Polebridge, turn right at Polebridge sign, follow through to Glacier NP gate. Then up a mainly gravel road 15 miles is the trailhead parking and the campground.

Beautiful hike. I’d rate as easy. Bring swimsuit and water shoes for a cool off in the lake. We saw a black bear cub on the trail and were aware that mamma may be close. Trail pretty narrow; gaiters or pants would be recommended.

Fun trail! Took us about 8 hours but we stopped for a while and ate lunch. Some light traffic, but majority of people didn’t go the full 6.5 miles to the end of the lake (the trail round trip is 13 miles). Watch out for bears! We passed two black bears about one mile from each other right on the trail. Other than that, bugs got bad deeper in the woods so be sure to have bug spray. Beautiful views!!

Great hike along the lake. Only the app’s mileage is way off. It’s 6.43 mi one way from the campground to the end of the lake. Making it 12.86 mi out and back. We’ve encountered inaccuracies about length of trails several times on our trip into Yellowstone as well as Glacier.

Good at first!! Very buggy. Need to wear long pants and shirt or lots of. Bug spray. Trail is great until it turns from the water. Then it isn't worth the effort so turn back.

There's a great trail launches out of here along then north side of the lake with a great camp area out there near the end of the lake. The blue water is so beautiful.
