My 4 & 6 year old enjoyed this trail. Very easy and kept them entertained with all the sticks and wild flowers along the way. Our favorite part is when it opens up into the meadow. The views are amazing. Perfect spot to have a picnic on a blanket. We hiked this in Mid May. Weather was 70 with no bugs. After the little hike they slashed around in the lake.. which is the size of a pond. Over all I would say this is a great kid friendly/elderly little hike.

absolutely amazing little hike. great for a family with elderly members, fisherman, and photoshoots. There's a very pretty field 800m or so in. Saw a moose and her calf as well. If you're looking for something longer than a short hike, go elsewhere.

Trail gets 5 stars from me because it’s an awesome adventure for kids. Super accessible, lots of variation options to keep it interesting, easy for anyone & water refilling station. If you enter the Greenough Campground Parking and park at the trailhead, you will find a short little hike that will lead you to the lake. From car to lake will take 5-10 minutes depending on your walking pace. It’s a very easy walk for kids and people of most abilities. Great kid fishing once you hit the lake. You’ll also find restrooms, a couple benches, a fire pit and several little “beaches” around the shoreline. There is a trail that loops the entire lake. We walk from the parking lot, around the lake, and back to the parking lot often with our 6 & 8 year olds. They love wading in the water with the minnows and chasing the butterflies, which are plentiful in a couple spots. This little adventure usually takes 1-2 hours, with splashing/playing breaks included. But you could easily waste a morning or whole day if your kids love to fish. The longer Greenough hike spans from the trail head parking lot to “the old car” references in someone else’s review. I know the AllTrails map calls this trail a “loop”. But I would advice against the loop... half of the “loop”’is just walking up a hot, dirt road. It’s boring on foot and will 100% lose the interest/patience of kiddos. We prefer to tackle the longer Greenough Trail by taking an “out and back approach”. Meaning, if you start at the parking lot you would hike to the old car & then turn around to backtrack. Or, if you start at the old car (which is how we usually access this trail if we’re camping at MK campground) you could hike to the lake/parking lot and then turn around and go back. The Greenough Trailhead/parking lot has an awesome water pump to fill water bottles. The trail between “the old car” and the lake is really beautiful. Lots of changing views/scenery. Easy going hike for kiddos. Keep your eyes peeled for raspberries near the old car. *Bonus: if the Greenough campground is t too busy, keep your eyes open for the giant boulder. It provides endless hours of fun for kids who like to climb.

First portion of the hike to the old car is great, back end of the home is just the road, not spectacular.

More of a question, so does the trail end at the old car? I couldn’t find more trail.

The lake itself is just a short walk away from the campground and has a great fire pit. I wasn’t able to do the whole loop due to time constraints but the views and wildflowers were wonderful! I hope to head back later in the summer and do the whole trail.

This is a nice kid friendly hike. The lake is nice. This trail would be nice for someone who is visiting that doesn't hike very often. Not much elevation gain and is a short hike to the lake. We hiked this in early March with only a few people in the area, being that this is a campground area I would imagine it is busy in the summer. Nice place.

Simple little 1/2 mile uphill hike from trailhead to lake. Lake has a restroom and fire pit. Great for children and parents alike. Fun fishing for newbies.

Short walk from the campground to the lake. Great find! Interesting hike and the lake has a permanent fire pit on the shore. Great place to introduce small children to the great outdoors
