Flathead Lookout is a 2.4 mile out and back trail located near Kalispell, Montana that features a great forest setting. The trail is rated as moderate and is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips.

Would highly recommend! The drive up to the trailhead is a feat though! We made it up with a two wheel drive car, but it was slow going and bumpy.
July 4, 2020June 28, 2020Lots of short snow crossings but a relatively easy hike up to an amazing view of the Flathead valley and Swan Range. The kids were pretty slow going but impressed with the view. Parking lot full by 11.
June 19, 2020Add a mile to the trail due to snow up to the parking area. The Trail was entirely in snow until the last 100 yards, but walkable. Great view at the top and worth every step. We saw some deer. Kids had a blast in the snow.
May 30, 2020There is snow about a mile out of the trailhead on the road, so add a mile each way to the trip. The snow is walkable and the views are great!

First to ReviewGreat hike if you bring some snow shoes. Made it all the way to the top but through a lot of powder from the snow from the past few days.
