It is a good trail. It is steep initially but then is an easy trail afterwards. Pretty forest. A couple of creek crossings which were pretty. Fish lake itself is underwhelming compared to the many other hikes to lakes in Glacier National Park.

I loved this hike! Nice mix of incline followed by a straight shot to the lake from where it breaks off from the Sperry Chalet trail. Really enjoyed this one!

This hike is steep. Decided to complete this one because the road toward Avalanche Lake and the rest of the park was closed (they had let in a certain capacity). Found this hike on one of the maps provided. Signage was not great until you get to the last portion of the hike so we weren’t sure if we were headed to the right destination! SO many bugs. Even spray wasn’t keeping them off. The view was pretty, but I think most everything in this park is. Thankfully the park had opened more when we were done with this hike and we were able to go do the one we really wanted to!

Serene walk through the hemlocks that appear spared by the 2017 fire. Paired this one with Mt. Brown and Snyder Lake. It was a really nice contrast to the other two.

Trail is back open post COVID. Three beautiful stream crossings. Mosquitoes were fairly thick along entire length in late June, even with bug spray. Lake itself is picturesque and serene. Didn’t know how our 7 y.o. Would handle the 1000’ elevation gain but he made it. Note there are no signs directing you on way to go until 1 mile from lake.

Great winter hike! We hiked this in January and March.

Pretty and steep. Last portion to the lake is absolutely amazing. It was so quiet!

Uphill moat of way. lake was the least impressive and not really accessible like others for wading/swimming. . DO NOT hike the rest of the way around the lake on a trail that joins the lincoln lake trail. Very unused trail and was a times hard to find. Went through 2 patches of stinging nettle and mostly burnt out forest. Saw plenty of bear scat but no bears.

The hike itself was okay. All forest. The lake at the end was more pond like and no views of the mountains. Kind of disappointing for how far it was.

Compared to other hikes in Glacier, this one is just ok. I mean, it's beautiful, but if you have a capable group of hikers, then I'd look elsewhere for a challenge.

Nothing special about this hike. We did it in around 2 hours RT and it served as a quick hike to waste time. It brings you to a small lake but there's a lot of trees in the way (we did it at dusk so we didn't spend much time exploring the area for a better view)

Only worth it if you have a limited time and have to be based out of Lake McDonald lodge ... can be done in 3 hours.

Steep hike with an ordinary lake at the end. No where to sit once you get there.

Not a super great payout for the elevation gain plus there were mosquitos when we went to sit down by the lake. I'd go with another hike

this trail starts near Lake mcdonald and follows a horse trail (with lots of horse droppings). on the way up you can catch nice views (look behind you!). it leads over a few streams and bridges. there are multiple turn offs for other hikes. the fish lake is literally a pond. there isn't a great area to sit down. not that you would want to sit next to the pond with frogs, flies, and Lilly pads. the hike through the forest was better than the destination
