Nothing special about this hike. We did it in around 2 hours RT and it served as a quick hike to waste time. It brings you to a small lake but there's a lot of trees in the way (we did it at dusk so we didn't spend much time exploring the area for a better view)

Only worth it if you have a limited time and have to be based out of Lake McDonald lodge ... can be done in 3 hours.

Steep hike with an ordinary lake at the end. No where to sit once you get there.

Disappointing destination.. little lake in the woods with a bunch of bugs

Not a super great payout for the elevation gain plus there were mosquitos when we went to sit down by the lake. I'd go with another hike

this trail starts near Lake mcdonald and follows a horse trail (with lots of horse droppings). on the way up you can catch nice views (look behind you!). it leads over a few streams and bridges. there are multiple turn offs for other hikes. the fish lake is literally a pond. there isn't a great area to sit down. not that you would want to sit next to the pond with frogs, flies, and Lilly pads.
the hike through the forest was better than the destination
