Edith Baldy Basin Trail is a 18.5 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Townsend, Montana that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from July until September.
A steep start, but once you get over that, the hike is still moderate, but spectacular. Reaching the ridge crest, you can veer off to Edith Peak, or continue on the trail. It drops down to Edith Lake. One end of the lake is a HUGE boulder field. Fun to go rock hopping, but I would not want to be there when another HOUSE SIZE boulder makes its way down from above.
