Eaglehead Mountain Loop is a 9.9 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Gallatin Gateway, Montana that features a lake and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, camping, fishing, and fly fishing and is best used from June until October.
This is a nice loop with great views. The trail is a bit hard to find at times. If you hike up to windy pass and want to go a little farther you can continue south on the Gallatin Crest Trail to Eaglehead Mountain and come out at the Golden Trout Lakes trailhead. Be careful when you reach Eaglehead because the Crest trail heads strait south and you need to veer west and continue down the ridgeline to golden trout lakes.
