DCO Ridge is a 1.6 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Cowley, Wyoming that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and nature trips. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Here is a hidden trail in Bighorn Canyon. It is an old mining road. Start at the restrooms at Devils Canyon Overlook. Then, walk towards DCO. On the south side of the road, there is an old mining road.Follow that road up and to the end of DCO Ridge. Enjoy!
"Light traffic" is an understatement. There is no sign, no markers, and only a few sections even look like they have been walked on. The trail is pretty obvious from the road as an old logging road. While the trail does take you to the top of the knob overlooking the DCO, the view to the river and canyon is obscured by the terrain. If you saw the photos and desire the same you will need to scramble down a few ledges to the edge of the canyon (Which is unforgiving to a mis-step as it is about 1,000+ feet strait down. If you really must see the view, better to park at the end of the road and follow where others have gone. The ridge really does not offer much.
