Really fun trail with beautiful views of the valley and mountains to the south. Lots of dogs, kid friendly. Nice views of the city.
Beautiful trail & perfect weather for hiking. Took the “hard” way up and they’re not kidding. 840ft of elevation in one mile but well worth the views.
Awesome trail. We did the more gradual route up and the snow was mostly gone. Little bit of mud and ice. We did the hard route down and luckily no snow or ice on that side since it is very steep the whole way. Good signage. Lots of people out on the trail.
Great workout for a short trail and some nice views. The trail gets much steeper and more intense if you keep going up past the “M”.
I hiked this on July 25, 2020 and didn't get started until probably ~7:45 pm. I hiked the "long way" (to the left) and went up and back the same way to avoid super-steep inclines. It's still a little bit steep toward the top, but nothing a person in reasonably good shape can't handle. Beautiful view of Bozeman from the base of the M. There was just the right amount of daylight to see a nice sunset on the way back down. The hike is a good way to burn off a hearty dinner! The trail is in great condition and is well-marked. I encountered a few other people...I felt comfortable hiking alone, and I also didn't feel the trail was at all crowded. I think I was a little bit late for the heavy wildflowers, but the scenery was still very nice. A sure-footed person could get by with running shoes on this trail; I need a little more stability and was glad to have on hiking boots.
Very fun hike with different tiers for different hikers. Extend your hike by going up bridger foothills for some steep elevation.
