Good hike. Super crowded though
An iconic trail for the Bozeman community, especially for those who are students. A short trek, either straight up, or on switch back trails. Synonymous to Drinking Horse Trail in difficulty and length.
Fave for a go to workout - 3 laps is a great training session for Spartan.
Pros: Excellent views of Bozeman and valley, the "M", interesting rock spines, plenty of parking.
Cons: Steep grades, loose sand, confusing trail due to lack of blazes and numerous summit possibilities.
Recommendations: Trekking poles
Hiked this trail yesterday for Thanksgiving. I didn't know the difficulty rating before I started it, but seeing the moderate rating on here didn't surprise me.
Great views on the way up, at summit point as well as from the top of the 'M'!
Lots of people on the trail, in all age groups.
Very rigorous hike on the short trail.
Nice and short hike with great views of Bozeman.
absolutely gorgeous hike. light traffic this time of year (early morning in november) but i still saw plenty of dogs, other hikers, and some trail runners. this is definitely a moderate hike, took me about an hour to the top with the 1.5 trail and a few shortcuts (the elevation here kicked my butt a little) but not so bad that the average non-hiker couldn't conquer it with a little time. completely worth it.
So many dogs! Hiked when it was very windy but was nice. We took the .5 harder trail and it was beautiful the whole way up but pretty difficult.
fun little hike with the family
Good day hike or something to do for sunrise or sunset. There a couple different routes to take as well. Good views. Easy and worth doing.
Great hike. A few different routes to take on the way up, and had taken a couple different ones during a morning trek. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
Fun for family. The longer trail was full of windflowers. Too much dog poo, though. Not too difficult of a hike if you take the longer route.
Good short hike for midday.
