This hike was awesome! The drive to the trailhead not so awesome. You definitely need a vehicle with high clearance. The hike up is pretty much all on rock like shale. But it’s pretty well packed. I didn’t go down to the lake because it looked like a fall/roll to your death.

unfortunately we didn't make it to the trail. we were in a low clearance vehicle which did just fine until the last 5 miles because we came to a large muddy area. we didn't want to chance bottoming out or getting stuck so we turned around. it was a beautiful drive and we will go back and try again with our truck! silly mistake.

I had the opportunity to make the trek into the cater with a great group of fathers and sons on Fathers Day this past Sunday. The hike to the top of the rim is a moderate hike. However, I strongly recommend serious planning for the very difficult trip down to the lake. The fish were dead.

The Hike to Rhoda Lake is intense. Not for the faint of heart. The fish in the lake have all died.
