This is a gorgeous trail with a huge payoff at the end. So many magical moments throughout the hike - meadows, creeks, waterfalls, wildflowers and views. I did it with my 11 and 12 year old daughters. One was tired at the end but made it! Pack layers - we had hail in July. Bring lots of water and snacks.

This is an epic big sky hike. Trail has snow on the last mile or so. Don’t miss this one

This is a lovey hike that ends with a spectacular view and lake. The last 1/2 mile or so was in snow which made things a little challenging. You reach 9300 feet in elevation. You need to understand what this means. iIts no joke if you haven’t prepared for this kind of hike. Bring plenty of water, snacks and sunscreen. It’s totally worth the climb.

An amazing hike with beautiful surroundings from start to finish. One shallow creek to cross about halfway up. Mud and then snow starting at about 1,000 feet of elevation gain, so wear your hiking boots.

Beautiful trail to a currently partially frozen basin. Lots of snow starting at about 2.5 miles in. Hiking further than the basin is next to impossible as of now due to snow and unclear basin boundary. However, it was a very rewarding hike to get to the basin with snow capped peaks in the background with snow pretty heavily falling. Would definitely recommend, but if you’re going now, would recommend lots of layers and waterproof gear. No bear sightings, but we saw one deer.

Always love this hike but it’s not ready yet... still tons of snow. Just past the big rock pile with the view of Lone Peak you start to get into deep snow (past our knees). Definitely can’t do it in sneakers or even hiking boots. Recommend waiting on this one til later in the summer!

It is still snowy (and muddy where snow has recently melted) on the upper 2/3 of trail as of mid-June but is one of the best trails in Big Sky during warmer/dryer months (July + August)

Awesome hike, but mid-June you hit snow halfway up. It made the final mile almost impossible in sneakers! We didn’t reach the lake but beautiful views along the whole trail. Muddy, snowy and slippery in early summer!

Awesome hike but probably best to save it for July and August. There is 3ft of snow for the later 3/4ths of the hike. Beautiful views but be ready to trudge through the snow

Beautiful yellow and white wildflowers for most of the hike! The first 2.75 miles of trail conditions are great and then it gets a bit muddy and quite snowy after that. I trudged through the snow for a bit but there are a few sketchy snow bridges and I decided not to risk falling into the creek below the snow.

This is one of the most beautiful trails ever. Now it’s really hard with 3ft snow at times. Do it even if you can’t make to the end. All parts are amazing!
