Aneas Loop is a 2.8 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Bigfork, Montana that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Clear and easy trail through the woods. It’s more for exercise than scenery. Flat and fairly even. Good for beginners. One little creek you cross. Saw bear tracks, but no bears. Went in late November. Little snow, but mostly in the wooded area. Wear orange, saw two hunters on the trail. Saw some off shoots of the main trail, may try those another day.
Lovely easy forest walk with view of the Swan Range. Nice place to walk a dog off leash. Pretty creek along the way.
Short and mostly flat. Trees have been downed but cut to preserve the path. Went just slightly too late for the wildflowers but seems like it was spectacular. Crossed paths with a bear.
Amazing at this time of year for the wildflowers everywhere! I was hoping the trail would run along the creek more was the only disappointment, and we only crossed it once, which was a mystery! Also, WARNING: Do not wear shorts right now! There are several parts of the trail that get narrow where you literally cannot keep from brushing up against thistle plants. On a positive note, pretty much all the downed trees have had sections cut out of them except one that was easy to duck under.
This trail was like an obstacle course yesterday, but I LOVED it! Def had to climb over or under many many trees. The smell of the trees was awesome, and the creek was delightful. Will be doing it again soon. Was nice I could walk and run on level ground. Easy but challenging and adventurous.
We walked it in the pouring rain, which was amazing, but at least a third of the trail had trees down which we had to claim over, climb under, and even walk in the woods around. Not everyone can manage this, so know before you go. Also, there are some turn-offs that would have messed us up had we not had this app with us. Be prepared.
This trail is a perfect leisurely afternoon stroll with great views. It's a great trail for dogs. When we hiked it had quite a few trees down, but we were still able to get through. We saw a few other hikers, but it was an awesome afternoon. It's also a great spot for winter activities like snowshoeing and cross country skiing! Tons of blown down trees and you definitely need yak traks or something to walk on ice
Perfect Sunday family outing. We stopped for a long time to dip our feet and play in Noisy Creek. We had 6 adults and 9 children. A very gentle easy hike with little elevation change. 5 year olds walked the entire way, the 3 year olds walked some distance and were carried a little.
Overall meh trail. Negligible shade. In the open, not very good vistas/scenery. If objective is to introduce someone to a hike in MT to get first hike behind them, this is it. But the scenery and time spent on it will be lacking. Try another easy hike like swan river nature walk where tho easy, has good views.
