My dad used to say, “Erik, do you know how you get to the top of a mountain?... One step at a time”. Enjoy this hike and say hello to those you pass - You never know what the next person you come across could be going through. I nice steady climb. Being as out of shape as I am I was able to hike all the way up without stopping - I slowed down but never stopped. When I reached the top there was a young couple sitting on some boulders. The guy was taking a picture of some sort of creature. He said aloud to the girl, “Handsome little guy isn’t he?”. I said, “Thank you!” as I passed by.

Beautiful views of Helena and a cave to boot. Steep on way back on powerline trail. Easy parking.

Nice hike. Great trailhead with parking and signage. Trail markings at every intersection. The top half is much prettier. Great views

Power line is steep and straight uphill the whole way. Take 1906 for easier route.

a moderate hike, ugly terrain unless in spring when its green, even worse are the entitled people who seem to flock to this area. Do during the spring or be bored to death of all the brown.

Great views, moderate indeed if you do not climb 1000' in your regular hikes, but doable!

it was a great hike. very, very muddy with intermittent patches of ice on 3/23/2020. would recommend waterproof shoes or boots of some sort. make sure they have traction. came up 1906, hit the summit and went down via hogsback. had a lot of fun, will be great for trail running in the summer.

Pretty muddy after 9 am due to the day warming up but a great trail! Bring shoes with great traction or Yak Tracks for the few places with ice, as they melted they got extremely slick! Gorgeous Day today!

Dog friendly. Moderate traffic. Difficult for beginner hikers as it inclines almost the whole way. Beautiful scenery.

Very well marked and groomed trail. It’s a pretty good incline the entire trip up, but it is worth the view and an excellent way to spend a couple hours away.

I did a little bit more and wanted to get to the summits. Power line is pretty steep going down, should go up that way and back down 1906/prairie for more gradual decline. Great all the way around though!

Great trail...I took the 1906 up then the prairie trail down. Prairie trail is less steep so it’s easier on the knees. 1906 had a few people to pass and prairie had less traffic. Great views from summit

Good hike and great view. We went up this and down the powerline but pretty steep down... we saw a fawn on the way up.. worth the climb and very doable.

It’s a little tough going up, long steady incline. The views are amazing and you’re mostly in shade. There is a cave that’s gorgeous but there is graffiti in it ☹️.

Beautiful views, enough shade to keep cool. Some of the trail can be slippery because of the rocks, so bring proper shoes. Overall a great trail walk.

The re are of a healthy climb is a well thought out trail down on bike. Once on top ride the Helena Ridge for sweeping views and long straightaways. I chose to go down Emmitt’s Trail and it was challenging and fun.

checked this trail out on a trip visiting a girlfriend of mine living in Montana. very easy trail to find, located behind a few beautiful houses on a hill. we started on the 1906 trail. mild inclines. saw a cool shallow cave on the way. really gorgeous views at the top of the summit. walked over to the power line summit. quick incline from the 1906 summit. loved these views more. 360 views. we took power line down. it's short but damn, it is steeeep and completely in the sun. of you choose to go up via powerline, you're a badass. anyway, easier and shorter hike. family friendly. enjoy!

Extremely rainy day, we were soaked through our clothes by the end of the first mile. The trail was lovely however, we enjoyed watching the fog roll through up top.
