Great trail. Narrow but very light traffic we only crossed ways with 2 other groups Really enjoyed the shade and the “into the woods” feeling. A little overgrown and clear places where you can encounter a muddy path (which we did not although it rained heavily during the week) And the best part: you get to see some wild animals Be aware of TICKS

make sure you a have a good bike if you're gonna ride this trail. tons of cracks, roots, rock, twists and turns. It took out my back tire so had to walk half of it, but its a pretty cool trail. will come back.

Beautiful shady trail (started at 9:30 am). We saw several deer and an elk while hiking, and saw a large herd of elk resting on the drive out. Great views of the lake. Single track. Lots of ticks; spray your shoes and self with deet

Nice trail ! Distance is little longer than it shows but it's worth. Trail starts with lot of uphill walk , if you don't want that you can start from the other end of the loop. Nice Lake views in between. lucky to see some elks walking around ..good wildlife experience. lot of bugs. I would definitely recommend it.

We started out just a tiny bit too late in the day on this Father's Day but this is where he wanted to go. Mostly shady. Several hills giving it a moderate rating. Several families out on the trail. Easy to social distance. Happy husband/dad means happy family!

Awesome elevation change and scenery. Perfect road for just a drive and view, and trails for walking!

Saw one female elk and a raccoon. Went in the middle of the afternoon though so not the best time to see the animals. Was a bit buggy. There’s a sign in the parking lot warning about ticks and chiggers. It urges people to use bug spray. Most of the hike is shaded. There’s a strange stretch in the middle of the hike that requires you to walk along the road in the direct sun. It’s a very short though. Nice variation of low grade climbs.

This trail is okay. Absolutely full of ticks, and I don’t particularly like that it follows close to the road and fences pretty much the entire time, meaning you’re never far from the cars that drive through here to look at the elk. You also have to cross one of the main roads to complete the loop. It’s nice if you are lucky enough to see the herds of elk or other wildlife. We saw two fawns and it was precious! I also do like that the trail has a good amount of elevation change, which kept it fairly interesting.

Definitely worth going! I’ve never seen so many elk at the park before until I went on the hiking trail. Please give the animals plenty of room as you hike. We encountered a group of 6 standing on the trail so we had to backtrack and go around them.

Great Trail- good work out. Plenty of wildlife... Had to detour a short piece due to Elk on the trail. Well traveled, some downed trees.

Not the most difficult trail but also enough to feel the workout, especially on some of the climbs. Overall, a good mix of elevation changes and rocky/obstacles kept interesting with elk and deer.

Fun trail. More ticks than I have ever seen on any St. Louis area trail.
