It has been reported this trail has a temporary closure due to COVID-19. Please see the park's website for up to date information. Great riverfront and downtown skyline view, especially when starting and the north end, and heading south to the Gateway Arch!

Walked downtown riverfront, flat and scenic, enjoyable and I felt safe by myself in this area. Trail closed north of Lumiere hotel due to flood damage... you can navigate around it but some bicyclists recommended to do that only with a buddy, very downtown industrial. Outside of the city, this would be a great trail to walk or bike. Enjoy STL :-)

A great trail, and doable for beginners, despite its length. I haven’t done it since last year (I think it’s currently washed out), but I highly recommend it. If going in the summer, be sure to bring sunscreen and lots of water. One bottle of water didn’t cut it for me. It gets HOT when riding along in the sun with minimal shade. Despite several drinking fountains, only one or two work (which is partly why I don’t give it 5 stars. The working ones are also close to downtown STL which do you little help when you’re way down closer to the Chain of Rocks bridge. But, even if you’re a beginner biker, it’s worth the ride. Highly recommend!

Nice paved trail along the river. This trail is moderately to heavily populated depending on when you go. Some spots are nice and can view the river. The rest of the trail is very industrial. There is a great free bike stop along the trail that has maps, water, and can help with bike fixes like; air, patches, and inner tubes. This spot made the trail earn the extra star.

I can now use my other hand to count how many times I've been on a bike in 15 years. So it's definitely beginner-friendly, but the length can make it challenging! Around the arch it gets congested with people but very quickly becomes almost deserted. Just follow the signs for the trail and it's easy to find your way. Cool grafitti, great riverfront views, and you can get up close to every bridge that comes across the Mississippi. Can't wait to do it again!

Great biking trail - not the best for hiking... all paved, but the new river front section is amazing.
