Trail leads down hill to a opening in the Earth in several places. This leads down the canyon to the several caves and caverns that are prolific to the limestone ledges in the area. The trail gets a little tough in the bottom but easily overcome the last part back up the hill to the road is a little tough. You will see various Limestone ledges with many little caches. You wonder why the Outlaws and Ancient people liked it so well, just look around. The wonders abound.

We did about 75% of the trail last weekend. As others have said there are no trail markings, it is not maintained, and people have been cutting off what used to be the trail to make a shorter hike to the caves. The caves seem to be somewhat of a network of natural air shafts and then the main opening, so you can find various openings around the hillside. If you’ve found your way to the larger cliff face with the main opening the trail basically follows the creek down the ravine, turns right at the intersection of the first wash then follows the main creek bed until just before a barbed wire fence crosses the creek. At approximately the barbed wire fence the trail would go up the hill to the right of the creek (facing downstream) however, it is not clearly marked or easily ascertainable and it crosses two ridges before putting you out on the road with the parking area at which point you have to walk back to your car along the road to finish the loop. Instead of going up that hill we just made it an out and back along the creek which was nice since it had recently rained.

The trail lead to private land so we turned around and headed back. Maybe we took a wrong turn somewhere.

As the map showed that the trail was 2 miles long, I was expecting at least a trail. Yes, there is a nice trail to the cave, but to say there is an actual path to follow is completely wrong. After the cave, I roughly followed the line on my trail map. The best recommendation for this alleged trail is to take Daryl Dixon and a pair of hedge trimmers to cut through the wild roses.
