Excellent walk back to an river overlook. Adjacent to nice 2 mile hike around the lake. Van Meter is a hidden Jewel in the Missouri state park system. It is worth an overnight visit to do the multiple trails and the visitor center. Only caution campsites are first come basis and it has limited number of sites. However it is not overly busy, call ahead, but you will generally find a site.
