Easy trail with lots of rocks and roots to navigate. My youngest was 6 at the time and the edges by the river made me a little nervous, otherwise it was good for kids too.

Neat trail with great views. We saw quite a few wild edibles like mushrooms and paw paws. We hike with two small children and there are two stone gazebos at perfect distances for rest stops to water and snack. There are some really beautiful views of the river from up high and as the trail drops to river level. Many other great views of rocky valleys and caves. If you are a bit adventurous there are trail offshoots to get to some special viewpoints.

Nice hike with some winding paths, elevation changes and a great view overlooking the river to keep it interesting the whole way through.

Although short it is pretty taxing as you climb back up the hill from the river. The trailhead is in the park store/restuarant parking lot. Goes to an old rock gazebo overlooking the river. Drops down to the river where there is another old pavillion and then back up to the top of the hill. Quite a workout.

25 y/o male, casual hiker. I hiked this route in about 1.5 hours, but could have probably made it in around 50 minutes if I didn't stop anywhere. Fantastic microcosm of Missouri's hills! Great mix of loose and dense woods, tallgrass fields, rocky bluffs, river views, and even a gaping gave if you step a little off of the trail. There has clearly been some campfires along the trail, from the burnt logs and bleached rocks, but generally felt very isolated and peaceful, even so close to the roads. There were a few, small steep sections I was very glad to have a walking stick for, so scavenge one up for yourself. I hiked the trail between 7 and 8:30 pm, with sunset around 9, and the only downside of my trek was the sheer number of spider webs! I ended up holding my walking stick up as a web breaker for the last 1/4 mile, and even then I'm sure I brought one or two tiny arachnids home. A broad-brim hat would have been great. There is one point which goes all the way down to the river's edge, and you could get into the water and swim if you care. Fishermen travel up and down in their speedboats, so be watchful of the sound of approaching motors.

Beautiful scenic trails although not well maintained- lots of trees and branches down on the trails or I would've given 5 stars! We completed the Deer Hollow Trail to Fisher Cave and Bluff View trail, the trailheads are at same parking lot, for a total of 4.2 miles!

Meramec State park has every camping option from numerous backpacking sites to full cabins, electric sites-every camping option here. A good variety of trails to hike too. river view and bluff trails are two good short scenic trails, and the wilderness trail offers a 10 mile option for the hiker or backpackers. Great visitors center, with the short natural wonders trail nearby. They also rent canoes and rafts for floating the meramec nearby.

State Park campgrounds has fee camping from RV to tent with full range of amenities. Very clean well maintained. Canoeing destination. I have found all the Missouri state parks to be well maintained. This is an area where taxes are well spent.
