Great trail! Variety of terrain and well marked. Conditions were dry when I went; I had read other reviews about how muddy it could get after a rain or snow melt - it was clear how miserable and how much more difficult this trail may be in wet conditions. A large portion of the trail was covered with fallen leaves, so may not be the best trail in snake/copperhead season. Several water shed crossings and a few creek crossings made the hike fun for my trail dog as well.
Great hike, only muddy in a few spots, water crossings are easy and a lot of pretty water features along the way.
2 times on the long loop . This trail is very rocky for long stretches so hike in good shoes, but I like this trail alot plenty of water to listen to
Day of the snow melt. I knew there would be a lot of mud, two steps uphill equaled one. One step downhill equaled four. Didn't know about all the water crossings but was doable. Lots of different scenery changes. Loved it overall. Cons; • Extremely muddy after rain or snow. • Very steep grades in mud. • Lots of water crossings. Pros; • Extremely muddy after rain or snow. • Very steep grades in mud. • Lots of water crossings.
A little more challenging than expected with snow drifts a foot deep in spots but beautiful day and hike none the less.
Beautiful winter hike. Winding clear creek. Icicles galore. Peaceful and serene. I didn't do the whole trail because I was worried about my dog's feet getting frostbitten. It was 18° and she stepped in water a few times. Pretty clearly marked, but I think the snow covered trail was the easiest way to see the path. I can't wait to go back and explore more when it's warmer!
Agreed that this trail is very eerie, but it’s so incredibly enjoyable. One of my favorites in the area. Some parts of trail are slightly washed out due to creek but still passable. Outstandingly blazed, so there’s no chance of getting lost. Easy side of moderate for avid hikers. Highly suggest for a good day hike.
Gorgeous trail, very light traffic. I could take my pup off leash for a bit, but of course being mindful of all other hikes I crossed paths with. I got a little scared a few times it was so quite. 10/10 would recommend and I’ll be back!
