Beautiful trail but several flooding closures to be aware of as of 10\8\19. On the Boonville end, just after the bridge the trail by the river is closed. We did a very short road ride on 87 and picked up the trail again. The culvert that was washed out near the Boonville end has been restored and a friendly MODOT man reopened the fence at the closure just as we arrived. You can ride from there with no problem all the way to the silo at Pearson's at 184.6. Past that, the trail is open about 3 more miles but then closed to flooding and NOT POSSIBLE to get to Rocheport on the trail. at the closure about 3 miles past Person, the road out to Hwy 40 is ALSO CLOSED so we rode back to Pearson to detour. Detour options are Hey 40 (LOT of vehicle traffic) or up the hill on 467 for .5 mile or so then 442 across for several miles. LOTS of hills both up and down on loose gravel but almost no cars. Tough ride due to the detours, but otherwise beautiful trail, would love to ride it sans detours in a drier year. Rains in the forecast next couple of days so definitely check the latest conditions before heading out.

The Katy Trail is one of Missouri’s outdoor recreational gems for biking, walking, and jogging. This section between Boonville and Rocheport is beautiful with open pasture land and shady sections where the trail is protected in a canopy of trees. The section at Franklin is nice with the nature and conservation area. I particularly like the approach to Rocheport as you see the tunnel and come out on the other side into the town. Be sure to get a pizza at the Mulberry Grill & Bakery-very tasty!
