Beautiful trail! Marked well once you’re on the actual trail. To find it go to the overlook and head down the stairs. We went wanting to do just the 3.5 but to get to Homestead Trail we had to hike 3 connecting trails. It was a total of 6 miles once we did the whole loop. Some rocky areas, some flat areas. Overall we enjoyed it!

So beautiful such a peaceful trail that will give you one heck of a work out especially if you climb all the stairs but trust me climbing them all is worth it

Definitely a moderate trail. But the views and places to stop along the way are definitely worth it.

Nice walk, even in the winter. Dogs and I had a wonderful hike, however my husband quickly decided it was too steep and muddy for him and rocked it out in the car. We carried on to take the Gade Trail to Stream Side, the Shane's Shortcut then headed back when we got to Homesteaders Trail. As mentioned, the path itself on some parts are shallow streams, so hiking was muddy & slippery, steep in some sections and enjoyable. Waterfalls are great even in winter, mainly on blue section. My 2 twenty lb. dogs would recommend this trail, even though they had to shower down when they got back to the cabin.
