Hawk Ridge trail is a 4 mile loop trail that follows the perimeter of the park and is a good mix of woodlands and meadows. Some of the highlights are several 200-300 year old trees along the route. Most of the champion trees are marked with plaques describing their species and age. If hiking in the afternoon to early evening you are almost guaranteed to pass a few deer along the way. Portions of the trail are open to equestrian travel, and there are large fields with equestrian jumps and obstacles too. There is plenty of room on the trail for bikes. The trail is paved or hard-packed gravel and marked extremely well. Please note that new signs have been placed along the southern section and the trail appears to have been moved from what is shown on the posted maps.

A good mix of paved and unpaved trails available. Lots of equestrian activity which was interesting to watch. Definitely a good place to hike or ride bikes.

Well maintained path. Not too much foot traffic. Decent views. Scattered receptacles for trash dog waste

I walk here a lot as it’s only a few minutes from home. Lots of asphalt and gravel, pretty level and easy walk. Downside is that it backs up to roads and residential areas. Also, heavily trafficked and loud.

Nice trail - mostly gravel - some shade / some sun - is a little hilly in spots but fairly easy

I'm happy to pay tax dollars to support this amazing park and trails! St. Louis County's best escape for trailwalking!

I really enjoyed this trail --- it's very quiet with minimal traffic. There is good amounts of shade and you can veer off and take a couple other trails marked on the posts. Lots of nature and beauty in this trail. I did both hiking and running.

I am from Chicago and visit family in STL - bout 25 minutes from where we stay and it was worth it! You don't want to miss this trail!

Easy trail with some hills - some areas in shade but a lot of areas in full sun as well - great for families with small kids

This was a decent bit of exercise. Half the trail is paved and in full sunlight and half is in more wooded, with gravel paths.

There was also an equestrian event and tons of golf carts shuttling people up and down the trail.

I doubt I would do this trail again since there are many better, local options.

Great trail for everyone. A lot of wildlife. Stay on the main 4 mile trail for an easy hike or take one of the alternate trails for a steeper hike. I enjoyed the whole experience. Highly recommend.

Depending on the pedestrian traffic, this is usually a great trail. Has a few hills, enough to make it interesting, but not so many that the hike is hard. Mainly pretty easy with a few moderately hard inclines.

Enjoyed this gravel trail. It's not a "onto the woods" trail but there are some beautiful scenery and tucked away places. Look over the map as there are quite a few trails.

Nice and easy day hike. Pretty scenery. Will definitely come back to see how it is in the Spring.

This trail is a good mix of a few steep inclines, rolling hills on gravel and paved paths surrounded by wooded nature. Fairly busy foot traffic with dogs on leash and friendly people.

Challenging enough to give a good workout but not a difficult trail at all. Nice inclines and beautiful scenery. The sections that are heavily wooded are beautiful.

Very pretty trail. It's a mix of paved, gravel and dirt. There are moderate inclines but nothing too steep. The trails are well marked. I really enjoy walking there.

The trail can be a little confusing at least to me on which way to go, but it's close and nice for a little hike.

I completed the Hawk Ridge Trail which had few good hills. The trail was 1/3 paved, no clear trail head or signs but once you find it, there's good markers along the way. Very easy "hike" and busy trail.

Heavily used by hikers, dog walkers, trail runners, and bikers especially on weekends. The trail is well maintained. The hilly section of the trail can be somewhat muddy.

I'm not sure how it's 7 miles...IMO, it was closer to 4 or 5 miles. In any case, it is a multi-surface trail (pavement, gravel, dirt) that goes around the perimeter of the park. There's a few steep hills as you make your way around, and has nice scenery, especially with the colors of fall. If you're lucky, you might see some people on horseback and deer going through the trail as well.

This is a four mile trail around the outside perimeter. Not sure why this says 7 miles unless you combine it with all the internal trails. Great trail that offers hills, forests, and gravel paths.

Different combinations of paths but the long loop is around 4 miles and is part paved and part dirt. Some sections are quite scenic. The hills are steep.
