Hawk Ridge trail is a 4 mile loop trail that follows the perimeter of the park and is a good mix of woodlands and meadows. Some of the highlights are several 200-300 year old trees along the route. Most of the champion trees are marked with plaques describing their species and age. If hiking in the afternoon to early evening you are almost guaranteed to pass a few deer along the way. Portions of the trail are open to equestrian travel, and there are large fields with equestrian jumps and obstacles too. There is plenty of room on the trail for bikes. The trail is paved or hard-packed gravel and marked extremely well. Please note that new signs have been placed along the southern section and the trail appears to have been moved from what is shown on the posted maps.

Great trail at a great park!

Great walking/running trail considering the park is located in the middle of a suburban area. Mixture of pavement and gravel. Trail passes by lots of things: dog park, playground, pavilions, ponds, equestrian field, and a good majority of the trail still passes through fields and wooded areas. This trail has a little something for everyone.

As one who loves running trails more than hiking I don’t like the fact that it’s partially paved. There are some parts of the trail which are wide open, no trees and in hot St Louis summer days it can be unpleasant. I go a few times a year , therefore, it’s not all bad

Very nice park. Trail is about 50% pays 50% travel. Well traveled path even on a rainy day. You’re likely to see horses and small animal life. Great path to take when the weather is bad.

5 stars for a nice walk. The paths are mostly paved, which is great. Good mixture of wooded area and fields. The dogs loved it!

A mix of paved and natural trails. Really pretty park. Some big houses off the trail to look at, but mostly nature and the park to look at. Lots of dogs and people out on a beautiful day in winter!

nice trail but it was very wet and it causes the rock to turn into a paste. will go again in spring when it's not so yucky out. also watch out for horse droppings.

As my first foray into hiking this was a good trail. It's half paved and half gravel. There's a good mix of scenery, grasslands, woods, ponds, and a creek. Even saw a deer. Took about 1.5 hrs. Was good way to wait out rush hour traffic.

WHOA DOGGY. Beautiful park. Hilly winding and wooded terrain that opens up into rolling pastures. Well maintained trails and landscaping. Water and opens skies, amazing sycamores, Daffodils scattered thru the woods. And everyone smiles and says hi because I’m completely assuming they’re probably wealthy county peeps

Nice one for a cross country run but also nice to get away from the concrete of the city. It can seem like ur out in the country in some spots of the park. Too many deer in this park though and they look unhealthy
