HikingGreat!

There is so much to see on this trail- one of the largest natural springs, incredible views of the lake of the Ozarks, the castle ruins, glades, variety of trees, and an amazing trail. If you can endure it, hike the whole area including the Spring trail, Dell Rim, and the Island. Pull up my recording to see the features. More often than not, there will be crowds on the weekends. Great hike in the Fall, but Spring and anytime of year would still be great!

Nice variety. Discouraged by people smoking and not keeping dogs leashed

Stairs (so going clockwise) are MUCH easier to climb than the opposite incline. All 316 + steps were worth the view!

Mostly shaded trail with good parking. Starts as paved, then gravel, mud, and then wooden walkways. Highly recommend going counter clockwise unless you are intentionally trying to climb the 316 stairs up. Trail is narrow and busy, not good if you are trying to socially distance.

A pretty nice family trail. It is kind of set up weird how one second you’re on stairs the next you’re on gravel then next you’re on mud but I would go again. The castle is shut down too they won’t let anybody go inside only take pictures of the outside. I went on March 21st in 50 degree weather and this place was packed so summer is probably crazy.

Running

Great trail, but very crowded! Difficult to run on most days, as there are so many people out. The views are worth the trip!

First to Review

This combined trail hits several of the special scenic areas in the park. A lot of stairs in one point. you want to enhance the experience and combine the island trail also. If you do the loop counter clockwise you will go down the stairs vs. climbing the stairs.
