Beautiful fall day. Great views of the lake for most of the trail. Be sure to have waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support.

BackpackingGreat!

Fantastic trail with great views of the lake the whole way 'round, plus some cool features like the beach and dam, and--most importantly--no spiderwebs. But I wouldn't recommend for backpackers. There aren't any marked campsites, and the few sites that are there are just flat(ish) spots somebody kicked leaves off of. Also, heard gunshots on the lake (duck hunters?) from dawn until ~8:30 AM. 5 stars for the hike, 3 for the overnight, so call it 4 stars overall.

This hike was beautiful! Harder than I expected, but not bad. Wear waterproof hiking boots, especially if it has rained recently. There were parts where we actually had to build crossings for the creeks, and some of them were decently deep with quick flowing water. Only saw a couple of other hikers and couple bikers, not crowded at all. Also there's a couple dollar fee to park.

BackpackingGreat!

I did my first backpacking trip here a few days ago and it was great. Very easy to navigate we had no signal the whole time and the park was out of maps so we had to wing it. We went clockwise and had no trouble finding flat spots. Don’t forget to tie up your food at night as well we heard tons of critters out there.

BackpackingGreat!

Did an overnight with a couple friends. Nice hike, the lake is beautiful. Trail was in good shape. Not a lot of Backpacking camp sites. There is one about 7.75 mi in counter-clockwise. But be warned you have to go off trail a fair bit to find level ground. Even then its really rocky. best if you have cot or hammock. Note, this trail is a solid 12.5 miles.

Great trail along the water. Bugs weren’t too bad for Beginning of September. Little rocky in spots, wear good ankle support shoes and Just watch out for mountain bikers. Saw lots of Ozark Trail Backpackers.

Beautiful views of lake, lots of refreshing creek crossings, and a well marked trail. Saw lots of wildlife including deer, rabbits, squirrels, turkey and even heard and saw signs of some unwanted wildlife -feral hogs. Be prepared for LOTS of ticks.

Awesome trail, cannot wait to do when it hasn’t been raining for four days. Right at the 7.3 mile marker I was in water up to my hips crossing to the ongoing path. Was going to make it a two day trip but the rain did not let up I was soaking wet. So made it in one. I tracked 13.1 miles instead of 11.5. Took six hours.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL place! The loop is actually 12.4 miles. Trail is in great shape, and the terrain changes up often. Only about 740 ft elevation gain but this trail will work you out. Bring at least 3 liters of water and start early, this will take you a good 6 hours. Huge ticks are out, so I deet'd up. Go get some! Instagram: Hiking Honkey

Great trail! I would recommend this to any level of hiker. I split this up over two nights to focus more on fishing and camp than hiking. Not many flat spots for tents, if you plan to stay, are close to your hiking goal, and see a flat spot, take it! Excellent area for hammocks. Connecting to the Ozark Trail this could be a fun loop around a lake while on a larger adventure. Had a lot ticks in select areas, but staying under pines helped keep them camp free. There is a $3 per day to park here fee! Not a big deal but bring cash! I had none and they only left a warning, super cool. Mailed them a check still when I got home, worth it.

I have to say, tough Trail there is a few released hills that where you out. The trail got tough around half-way point but once u make it through its alot easier. Bad news is there are only a few flat areas to pitch a tent but plenty of trees for hammocks.

I would recommend this trail. We took our 3 and 4 year old boys on this and it was very easy them. We didn’t do the full trail but still had a great time. You also have a great view of the lake!

Completed over Labor Day weekend, took me a little over 4 hours at a quick pace — it read as a little more than 12 miles. Beautiful trail, well maintained, pretty well marked. But I don’t think I will be back to this trail again at this time in the year. SO many spiderwebs (even with multiple groups on the trial that I passed) I’d say walking through one every 2-3 minutes. I ended up just walking while waving a stick in front of me. Constant buzzing in and around my ears by horseflies that would not let up. Got home and realized I was covered in chigger bites (even though I was wearing long pants and long sleeves due to earlier reviews).

Doggo remained with woman due to pulled muscle. Blow out on the trail. Continued to ride on flat until I arrived at Enough boat launch, rode gravel up to hwy 32 toward DD. Stuck the thumb out and was picked up as noted by data fields. New carrier wore hotter than FF carrier (same guts). Killed the 3L of water about the time I reached pavement. Last ride at CB, had water leftover even when shared with dog.

Rocky, some overgrowth and some muddy areas. We were covered head to toe due to the reviews about ticks and left with none! But it was a bit too hot for all those clothes and camping. We made it 4 miles in on the north loop before setting up for the night. Coyotes kept us up most of the night and we got to see them about 20 feet away as we hiked out at about 6am. Also got to see a family of wild turkeys, A turtle on the trail, bunnies, lots of birds, fish at the beach, and a metric ton of daddy long legs off trail. Enjoy the views of the lake and stop at the beach for a dip!

This 12+ mile trail was a lot of fun. Although it has almost no blazing, the trail is well worn and easy to follow. For the most part it stays within 50 yards of the lake but it does venture a few times out of sight of the lake into the woods. There are several small streams around the lake that require crossing but there are enough rocks in the streams to avoid getting your feet wet. We started our hike when the temperature was in the teens. As the temps increased during the day and the wind picked up, it sounded like gunshots as the ice cracked and other times it sounded like wind chimes as the wind blew across the ice.
