Columbia Bottom Conservation Area Trail Loop is a 9.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near St Louis, Missouri that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.
beautiful Trail, it was well marked and very easy walk. there is 2.5 miles for a river Trail that is all sand so this could be difficult for some. but you can always stay on the paved path.
Nice hike right by the river - did the rivers edge trail both directions just because we wanted to see the river and not be on a paved path
We started off at the visitor center and walked over pass the lookout point. If you walk there is a shortcut through a gravel road that leads you straight back. I gave this three stars because the boat dock was block by construction and it's not much of a scenic trail. Mostly farmland and prairie. Also this is not an "easy" track, and if one isn't ready for an 8 mile hike I would say it's more moderate. But we still had a good time!
Trail still closed call or check website for updates
Trail is currently closed due to damage from flooding last winter.
River's edge hike is peaceful along the Missouri River. River Bottoms are sandy with tons of wildlife for viewing. River's edge is only open to hiking, rest of CA is a paved bike path.
we went off the beaten path into a trail in the woods, was pretty hilly and a little much for a beginner but felt good about my effort afterwards.
This trail is nice for trail riding or biking because a large portion is paved. There is also a path that runs alongside the river. We saw many birds and frogs on the hike. A very nice and easy place to hike, not too crowded.
Lots of invasive plant life choke out the native vegetation along the loop portion of this trail. Lovely area, just wish it was better cared for.
Lots of birds and a nice view of the bridge. There is an exceptional nature center for bird watching near by (Riverlands - see link). Worth checking out too.
Lots of flat, paved area. Also, 2 miles or so of dirt trail that runs along the Missouri River. Good place to check out birds. Other scenery not so great, at least to me. Take a friend. Pretty desolate. I ran 9 miles and saw 1 human being the whole time.
Nice, easy walk. Lots of wildlife (birds). Just be sure to wear some insect repellant. I found six ticks on my legs!
This is an wonderful area to hike around and observe migratory birds. There is little to no elevation gain, so the area is pretty easy to transverse.
