The Castle trail is a ADA accessible trail leading to the castle ruins and lake overlook. Access to the ruins of a 20th century castle and spectacular views of Lake of the Ozarks make Castle Trail one of the parks most popular trails. Castle Trail can be accessed from either of the two castle parking lots. The upper lot has limited parking and is recommended for people with disabilities and elderly. More parking is offered at the lower lot, which is the first lot you come to. From the lower parking lot, a shaded walk through an open oak woodland area takes hikers to where the trail joins the upper portion. Here, there are two side views of the carriage house ruins. There is a water fountain at this junction and an interpretive kiosk with information on the parks cultural history. The upper portion of trail features three scenic overlooks. There are 12 park benches along the trail.

Easy hike to start off a full day of exploring the park. The path is paved which is nice. It was definitely the most crowded area of the park. Interesting to learn the history of the castle from the placards.

Was disappointed that you can not get close to the castle. But it is probably due to lack of respect from others. There is amazing views from the ruins. We did see a lot of vultures.

Was disappointed to find that the ruins have been fenced off and you can no longer go through the "rooms" and see the views from the "terrace." My last visit was 5+ years ago, so I had been looking forward to exploring inside the castle. Views from along the ridge are great. Two turkey vultures soared right above me and I thought were coming straight for me!
The trail itself is paved and accommodating for lots of people/stollers/etc., but it's not the highlight of the park for me.

After hiking 6 miles in the forrest, this seemed a little touristy for my liking. Clearly the concept of leave no trace did not catch up with humanity in time and was evident in the sings telling you to stay on the path and the reasons for doing so. None the less, the lighting was phenomenal and lent it's self to the castle ruins and panoramic views nicely. The trail was easily accessable and nicely paved for those with disablities. The side trails lent a nice off the beaten path if you wanted to get away from the tourist asspect.

Very easy short trail up to the castle - some scenic views - castle is now fenced off so you cannot get as close to the castle as you used to be able to.

It's more like a short walk to look at the castle ruins (which are pretty cool); however, there are many hiking trails throughout and even a couple that lead away from the castle once you reach the top. Definitely beautiful views and worth the walk which is easy enough for the little ones or older folks too.

The castle ruins trail is very easy. All paved until you get to the castle then it's gravel as you walk around the ruins. There are nice overlooks available.

The castle ruins are awesome and also the other trail that goes down to the lake with tons of stairs is also pretty. The water was a blue green. You can't imagine a color as beautiful.

The trail for Castle ruins and water tower are pretty easy, with a few stairs. the stair trail going down to the spring area is long, with the island not that impressive.
