Total loop (using western section rather than the middle connector) is 16.4 miles with ~2000 ft of total ascent- a fairly strenuous trail. Trail can be very hard to follow in some sections, but is well blazed- so go tree to tree. Terrain on the trail can range from ATV/truck paths, to very rough ungraded sections. In the summer, I suspect the undergrowth might make walking through some sections difficult. There were numerous stream crossings throughout, and depending on water level, this can become difficult. We went during the fall, after a good snow fall, and the streams went mid calf in some areas. Brushy Creek should provide reliable water year round. Eastern section of the trail may be more spotty when it comes to water, but there were numerous streams when we hiked it. There were no established campsites, so dispersed camping with LNT ethics was used. Entire area is primitive, and fairly scenic by MO standards.
