It's been a few months since I've been out here for a walk. I came about an hour before sunset and walked around the lake twice. I spotted 2 gulls, a Great Blue Heron, as well as 2 hawks.
It was great! We enjoyed the view of the river and he got to swim in the lake!
easy county park trail w nice wooded and scenic views of Mississippi River
This trail is actually a combo of several trails. Nice, easy walk around lake on Fisherman's Trail. Unexpected, but welcome incline on the gravel Crow's Nest portion of the trail, with nice views of the river. Paw Paw section was more rustic footing through woods. Probably gets muddy in wet conditions. Very pleasant!
Lost the trail about 3/4 of the way through but saw a good sized buck and other deer.
Easy walking trail. Did it right as the sun was coming up. Pretty cold, but the seclusion was nice. From the .50 mile mark I just followed the tree line and then turned right at the water fountain to cross the road. Saw a few deer out this morning and watching the sun come up over the Mississippi was pretty neat too
Map is all over the place in a spot or two. Nice trail but is more moderate than easy.
Packs a lot of interest into a short distance. Well maintained paved and gravel path, with the exception of a few secondary trails. Trail mostly shaded, except for the part around the lake. Walked this on a beautiful fall morning. From the lower parking lot, headed westward around the lake, took a detour up the incline of Cedar Trail, before rejoining the lake path. From there we headed eastward up a decent sized hill to the bluffs. The view of the river from the bluffs is obscured by trees, so you don't get a decent view until you hit the outlook near the upper parking lot. We doubled back and headed down the ungraveled Paw Paw trail, (where we saw a box turtle!). It was a more interesting, albeit muddier hike than around the upper parking lots. We spent just over an hour but much of that was taking pictures, trying to avoid being tripped by the dog, and waiting for child who wanted to collect all the fall leaves! Without those distractions it would be doable in half that time!
