This is a lovely, flat, paved trail along flood berms among lakes, flood plains, and sloughs. The loop also has an option to go further east and increase the mileage to about 4.4 miles in the loop. Bicycles can be rented at the ranger station. Boats, too! There is usually light activity, making it feel safe, yet not overcrowded. Beware of wildlife - occasional snakes (mostly black or garter, but I've seen water moccasins (cotton mouth) and copperheads), and snapping turtle. Other commonly sighted wildlife includes herons, egrets, bullfrogs, box turtles, Canada geese, migrating fowl, deer, etc. There is very little shade along the path. Benches can be found along the path. Water is available at the shelter area in the south-central part of path and via pump at dog park (north-east area). New fountain play area has been activated near shelters.

I live in the St Peters Missouri area. There is a city trail that runs behind my home, which connects to Laurel park to the south and Lakeside 370 Park to the north. It is a 16-19 mile trip to the northern park.
From Spencer Rd, there is a trail on top of a levee that continues to the 5.5 mile loop at lakeside. The entire path is all asphalt or concrete.
