This is a pretty trail at Jeff Busby park on the historic Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi. The trail has been rerouted from the original recording. I kept getting off route warnings but I was on the only obvious trail. There were a few sections I saw another trail but a rail split fence blocked the trail. If you start at the lookout the trail loops back up the road to the top.

HikingGreat!

There are two ways to hike the trail. We did the shorter version, which is park at the top, hike down a little ways, and then either reverse course or take the road back up. Really cool scenery. Would love to have done the whole trip down, but that hike back up the road was too daunting for me. Trail was in good shape the whole way, very easy terrain.

5/1/2020 It is a good easy trail. Heavily wooded. Bugs were little to none. The only thing I have to say is That the view at the top isn’t as good as others say. Perhaps it was years ago before all the tree reached maximum height, but ya looking a a lot of close up tree tops. There is one opening where ya can see for some distance but that it. If I can find a place to post the pic I will

Not a 1.5 mile hike. Only 0.5 once you drive to the parking lot, which is at the overlook

Nice out-and-back on well-constructed and well-maintained trail from/to the summit of Little Mountain. Grade is gradual except for 2 switchbacks near the top. Short loop passes a nice spring. View from the top is quite impressive for an area this flat. Overall, one of the best hikes in central Mississippi.

Easy trail but had great view from atop the “mountain”. Great place to take nature photos too.

Nice trail. Taking the advice of other reviews, I started at the bottom and hiked up to the lookout instead of driving up to the trail head. Not having exercised in a good while it was more moderate than easy but still doable.

This is a hidden little gem, nice trail in good shape and about as close to a mountain as you’ll get in Mississippi.

I ONLY give it 4 stars due to the fact of so much of the 'trail' being the actual roadway. So we parked at the top of the lookout and entered the trail there and came out at the camping area and walked the roadway back uphill until we reached the picnic benches and re-entered the trail at that location and walked it back to the lookout point parking area. Next time we will park at the lookout area and do an 'in and out' hike from there. Other than that, this is a very quiet, scenic, easy trail.

First to Review

The Little Mountain Trail is located in the Jeff Busby State Park off of the Natchez Trace. It was a fun little trail, well maintained and easy to follow. My wife and I took our dogs with us and they enjoyed the walk. We parked at the top and hiked down and back. It was pretty quiet and we only saw a few other people while we were there. It was a relatively easy trail with only a few sections of uphill. There are a few benches on the trail and the rest of the facility seemed nice as well.
