The Pine Loop Trail passes through a pine forest which is a distinct ecosystem within Frontenac State Park. To reach the loop, you'll have to descend down slopes using other trails branching off the upper bluff parking area. The Pine Loop trail itself is easy and flat, but the trails that connect with it have a moderate to strenuous ascent and descent. You can choose from different connecting trails to get there - one involves a more strenuous staircase, the other involves a moderate, but longer, curving path up and down the hill.
