Started at Douglas Lodge in Itasca State Park. Nice fall hike past a number of lakes. We opted to do the full loop that was over 8miles. Lots of ticks on the dogs though so beware!

HikingGreat!

Beautiful hike, visited just a week past fall peak but the leaves were still gorgeous. Hike is enjoyable, rolling hills but nothing extraordinary. Nice wide path, nothing very challenging

Some nice viewpoints, but mostly it was an average to just above average trail. The bugs, hills, and muddy spots made it a little bit difficult at times. The hiking club route for Itasca is within this trail as well.

Mosquitoes and deer flies were incredibly difficult. Our mile splits were faster with each mile as we tried to get away. Wish we could have enjoyed the hike a little more and bit a little less.

Beautiful trail! Well maintained and easy to hike. I took a shortcut because the original length must be much longer. Mosquitos are bad. Lovely trail will do again.

Good trail. Last 2/3 of Red pine was a little grown over, but overall great hike.

Hiking

My wife and I hiked through deer park trail, eagle scout trail and ozawindib trail on 04/24/2020. It was empty due to the current "covid-19" situation; however, due to this I enjoyed it even more. Through these trails one would come across quite a few lakes, spot variety of birds etc. This time of the year you wouldn't see much of greenery but it still looks beautiful. All in all, I loved the park and the trails.

HikingBlowdownBugsOver grown

Ozindawib trail was good but extremely buggy. Red Deer trail was basically abandoned, overgrown and at times hard to follow as it deviated around blowdown. 20 mph winds, 60 degrees and 3 layers of Deet could not keep the mosquitoes away. Once we got to the Deer Park trail it was again maintained. Take the hiking club crossover tail instead of the Red Deer trail

Great trail nice and wide. Abundance of frogs snakes and wild flowers. But at 76 degrees the mosquitoes were ready to carry us away. Bring lots of bug spray if outdoor temp. Is above 60.
