Really great and we saw the bison! A little buggy and muddy.

Good for a nice long walk. Trail gets a bit long and boring for some kids. Couldn’t see the bison until we were over halfway through the trail. Maybe because cars can drive down through the middle? Not connected to the falls. Not much elevation. Some spots have little shade. It was nice but once was probably enough.

easy trail - nice for a longer afternoon walk.

Really amazing, and we got to see 4 baby bison right up close to the fence!

Trail isn’t connected to waterfalls. Bison are great to see although we’re in a small area (opposite side of parking lot).

Nice flat trail. Fall colors are past peak. Was hoping for a nice overlook of the Minnesota River, but views blocked by trees. Was able to see the bison; better view of the bison from hiking trail vs the road that travels through the enclosure.

Nice trail, easy hiking as most of it is a flat, wide grass trail. Lots of wildlife and we were able to see the buffalo.

This is a very cool, easy hike! The MN hiking club trail brings you right up to the bison range and we even got to see them! It was awesome. There are lots of wildflowers in bloom right now too and wildlife was everywhere. It was a great hike!

Another beautiful south-central Minnesota trek. Wildflowers and river hills bring this hike to life and it’s not impossible to imagine what this land looked like before touched by humans. Be sure to save time for the falls. Up on the hill is the mill, which offers a serene spot for a rest and overlook of Minnesota’s river valley. We haven’t been back since the bison arrived, so this may effect trails. (Hiked: A few times between 2005-2015)

Loves following the trails. There are beautiful scenic overlooks to see the fall leaves and the trails can take you right down to the river and even a couple creeks. Also a very good area to go off of the trails and explore as well

Great for trail running. It's a flat hike. some really petty parts through the woods. Definitely not 3.3 miles. More like 6 miles. I will be back

The hiking club trail and waterfall trail were awesome! On the map online, it showed that you could get to a trail that went right along the Minnesota river. The online map is wrong. Use the maps at the park. We tried getting to the river trail and went almost 2 miles through mud, fallen trees, and wet ground before we gave up. It was a great adventure but not an easy one!

The big loop around the Bison enclosure is what I’m imagining this is talking about. We started out trek at the campground. We followed the hiking club trail and both forks of it were blocked by an overflowing body of water (it rained heavily that morning). Seeing the Bison up close and personal more than made up for the lack of ability to complete the loop.

We passed the “bottom” part of the falls and saw that the trail from parking —> falls on the left was “ closed”. Falls were beautiful, took our obligatory photos and went up the stairs. Trail to the right was closed— trail to the left (rough, earthy, unpaved) had no sign indicating so— so we went for it. If I am commenting on the proper trail— this part was AWESOME for a beginner hiker trying to test their limits. Two trails alongside the cliff of the creek— we took the higher road. Immersed in nature- went to the end of the park where the main road made itself present and turned around. Tried to take a different trail on the way back & it soon became covered in leaves. Wet mud underneath. We slipped and we crawled and we made our way back feeling accomplished and invigorated. Will definitely be back with more supplies and sturdier sticks for stabbing the mud to pull ourselves up the hillside.

Only a one star so I can mark that it has been closed as of March 18 due to erosion issues. Per the park website.
