Hiking

Really flat and not clearly marked, but cool enough for a quick run

Walking

Nothing special, lots of the trail was paved and through a neighborhood - kind of expected for a city “hike”. Incline was killer at one point. I don’t need to do this hike ever again unfortunately

Hiking

Amazing hike the portion where it goes to the bluffs is very muddy but overall super good hike, with nice elevation, and different scenery

Beautiful views! Trail closed in December but still passable - just need boots! A beautiful hike/walk along the river with views of downtown Saint Paul.

Great hike/walk. Going up to the scenic area trail said closed but we went by as did a lot of other people. Leaves are just starting to change.

Great hike! The lilydale trail said it was closed....but my fiancé and I snuck past it and went through it anyways. We saw a couple of other people on the path too, seems like that’s what everyone has been doing! Overall great views and moderately easy hike besides the killer incline during the lilydale trail

All in all, the trail has nice views and is fairly easy for the average biker. There are some rough spots where the paved trail is worn away and there is frequent construction which takes away from the ambience, but not a bad trail.

5 stars for a hike that's ranked as Easy. it has a killer uphill when you first start off but its on paved ground with good views. It has a nice nature walk down to the river to end. Perfect for morning or evening exercise.

Nice mix of paved, off-road and city trails. You get city and wooded views on this hike. Part of the wooded trail said closed but walking it was just fine. One very steep part but the rest was a moderate hike. Lots of bikers on paved portion. Pretty views!

Fantastic walk along the river with moments of nature and moments of city skyline. Some shade but majority not. Part up hill was tiring but fun to push through.

This route is mostly paved and the section that’s not might technically be closed. I don’t fully see why they closed it at one end since this is Minnesota and a slight water washout ravine is just part of nature. Up north it wouldn’t be an issue. Maybe it’s because it’s within the city limits? But I did see other people on it. Always at your own risk, right. Some cool hiking poetry and quotes about hiking by some of the benches on the closed section. I’m giving it 4 stars only because it follows so many city streets. Great views though.

Great hike on a beautiful day. Views are great. Go clockwise from Harriet Island ...coming down bluff and along river back to park is snow and ice packed.
