The City of Eden Prairie, Minnesota owes its name to Elizabeth Fries Ellet, the writer who visited in 1852. In her travelogue book, Summer Rambles in the West, Ellet describes the Minnesota River Valley which adjoins the current day City of Eden Prairie. From the Northern Pearly Eye Butterfly and the Green Tiger Beetle of the Big Woods to the Red Spotted Purple Butterfly and Burying Beetle of the Bottomland Forest there are 95 species of insects, birds and animals and 37 plant varieties represented on the EFEIT signs. There are aerial shots, panoramas, close ups, vista shots and historic clippings, paintings, drawings and photos represented on the signs.

Great easy trail for a nice calm evening hike!

A big hill right away, part of the trail is very sandy, part is very wet, but the new paved trail to the side helps with that. Great lookout spots!

We went at a beautiful time of year. Trail was rustic with creeks and fallen trees. Fitbit counted 16 flights of stairs for this one.
