Lookout Mountain Loop (Hiking Club Trail) is a 3.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Grand Marais, Minnesota that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and nature trips.
This is a popular double loop in Cascade River State Park. While the hike is great all year, the best time is in the spring when the river flows strong. There are many interconnecting trails to shorten or lengthen this hike. There are great views at the top of this climb including of the surround area and Lake Superior.
Wonderful hike and gorgeous view at the top - only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because the most crucial turn to head back down is not marked well at all. Everyone in our group missed it and there is another trail that the sign seems to be pointing to. It’s right after the lookout.
absolutely gorgeous! worth the climb to the top! at the beginning take the stairs cool views!
Well maintained, fairly easy to follow. Having the map was helpful at some intersections, could be easy to get off track if not paying attention.
This is an excellent hike. Lookout mountain from Hiking the North Shore page 126. Lots to see, amazing waterfalls, good climbs, and excellent views from the top.
