Lookout Mountain Loop (Hiking Club Trail) is a 3.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Grand Marais, Minnesota that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, running, and nature trips.
This is a popular double loop in Cascade River State Park. While the hike is great all year, the best time is in the spring when the river flows strong. There are many interconnecting trails to shorten or lengthen this hike. There are great views at the top of this climb including of the surround area and Lake Superior.
January 8, 2021Well packed and didn’t need snow shoes! Beautiful weather, and didn’t see a single other person our whole hike. Would recommend, but make sure to keep an eye on the right maps since there are many intersecting trails.

Everyone in our group missed it and there is another trail that the sign seems to be pointing to. It’s right after the lookout.

October 7, 2020Gorgeous state park and not super crowded. The trail is fairly rugged and has varying landscape, including forest, downed trees, overlooks to the lake, and the river/falls itself. Worth doing this loop!
