I hiked the trail in early April, and it was completely snowy still. The trail was packed down enough that we didn't need snowshoes, but if it hadn't been packed down because of being traveled by others before us, snowshoes would have been a must. There are a few slight hills, but nothing strenuous. There are a lot of pine trees and rocky outcroppings. The trail is well marked with maps at every intersection and blue arrows on the trees. There were many birds to be heard; woodpecker, smaller birds, cranes, seagulls and a few I didn't recognize (but I'm not a bird person). Lots of evidence of deer.
