The first loop was way too muddy and flooded to go around. The beach was lovely though!

Fun trial.. easy to follow and due and lots of easy ways to make it easier or harder by bypassing or taking steeper areas. We skipped the first part and went straight down the road because the little loop area was fairly flooded. We went around 10am and it was quiet and nice. Breezy on Lake Michigan but given the season (spring) it was really quiet still on the beach area. Dog friendly! But beware of ticks

Hiked this trail alone and during winter. Clear skies and no snow that day the scenery is beautiful. You have to go over some sand dunes and it can be challenging if you are not in good shape. Pets have to be on a leash.

Beautiful dunes and park! Trails are great and offer a variety of terrain and levels of challenge. There are trails going directly up the dunes that, depending on your fitness level, can be more challenging. Enter these from the beach parking lots. The less challenging trails are on the backside (wooded side) of the dunes and are accessed from the trailhead parking lot. Great example of dunes ecosystems. (Christmas Day Hike)

Been hiking here for 20 years. Love it. Really good workout! Bring water to drink. When you reach the lake , head to your right and hike along the lake til you reach a old lighthouse, walk up the dune behind the lighthouse and you will see the ruins of the old First Church Camp. Kinda creepy but beautiful. A fire shut the camp down many years ago. Beautiful place to hike also.

Nice trail. More difficult then moderate IMO. At least 2 miles are on beach/loose sand and over dunes.

Great trail and what a workout!!! I modified and did an in and out along the shore because it was way too hot for my dogs to do all the dunes and no water to cool off. But regardless it was a great hike w amazing views of the lake!

There was a branch blocking part and a tree blocking part of a bridge at marker 10. It was hard to navigate with two dogs. Other than that it was great!

Best time to hike here is fall to spring. Few tourists. Winter time you can hike the game trails for hours and never see another human. My dogs absolutely love it. Best views of lake around. Deer and wild turkey are seen frequently.

Great trail for us from Missouri! Sand dune hiking is no joke. The inclines are a great workout and running down the dunes is such a blast. You get a flat respite from point 3-4. We walked the beach back to our car and swam with our pup. Overall, great great great!

Hiked this trail today with my 5 and 7 year old daughters, my husband and our dog. In the sunny sections, the sand gets painfully hot, so be prepared. You’ll want lots of bug spray for the wooded sections. In some areas, the sand was very soft and deep which made the hiking quite challenging through those sections - but we had a great time!

Very difficult to find forested hiking trails in SW Michigan but this one did not disappoint. You get it all. Forested and secluded trails, very steep optional dune trails for the challenge, flatter dune trails along the beach with beautiful views. Very highly recommend! Bug spray, a hat and sunscreen (if fair skinned) are wise. And water of course.
