Gorgeous! We started with the island trail, then lake and up the ridge. I would rate the ridge trail as "Moderate" as several hikes uphill in sand. We were accosted by biting horse flies so definitely douse yourself with bug spray (we didn't think to, paying for it now) We went right after the 4th of July so was a bit busy but not too bad.

This trail was very peaceful. We only encounter a few hikers the day before 4th of July! I would say the rating is accurate for hikers in that it is an easy trail. We deviated some to go onto the island trail to extend the hike about a mile. Saw a few deer and ducks! The trail was market very well and I posted a picture of the arrows that guide all the trails in the park. If you are in the area give it a go, it’s a peaceful hike with some nice views.

Love this trail! We hike it almost every time we visit with the addition of the Skyline Trail.

Our first trail at Ludington but it was great! Brought our 5 month old lab puppy and although she was very tired by the end, she was able to complete it with us. Small elevation changes but overall great forest hike with lake views. Even pulled over to the side at one point to hop in the water! Great hike.

Beautiful variety of scenery with a fair amount of moderate hills in the ridge trail section.

I began my recording late, but did the whole lost lake and part of the ridge trail back to lost lake in Birkenstock’s. Easier than expected but prepare for hills! Beautiful scenery

This is a beautiful trail. The stairs are pretty and you reach great heights. The sand can be annoying but still worth it. It is really worth going around the little island where lakes are on both sides but that area is a little overgrown which makes it difficult to not fall into the water.

Lovely trail, we followed the ridge north (aptly named trail) clockwise. Beautiful spot where the shelter is near the lake. Pretty and close to the water, next time might picnic there. Whole trail was great. We took the Lost Lake Trail back to the campground which allowed us to walk close to the lake. Would like to try it in fall and winter.

Incredibly gorgeous with more varied terrain than I’ve seen even in mountain country. The climb up the dune is a challenge but will reward with beautiful vistas of Lake Michigan. Heavily trafficked? We saw no one on the trail on a Monday afternoon.

I took the Lost Lake Trail, Island, then Ridge. It ended up being 4.15 miles according to my gps. This Trail was not easy at all, more like moderate. Beautiful views, so proud of myself for conquering this solo!

Running

I did this trail along with the lost lake & island trail in December after a heavy snowfall. At points the snow drifts were up to my knees and absolutely no trail to follow. Admittedly I lost the trail a few times but they are marked so well that it was easy to get back on track. This run was absolutely epic! With the extreme cold, whipping winds, crazy climbs and stunning views this was definitely a run to remember. I can’t wait to make it back!

I found this trail to be more "moderate" than easy. Great views with some up and down climbs. More difficult than Island Trail, but beautiful!

Just a portion of our hiking over in Ludington. One of my favorites with a nice mix of woods, beach, and views of the dunes and Lake Michigan. Moderately challenging and surprisingly not very busy for a weekend in July. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of the best state parks to camp and hike. Multiple hiking trails of decent length and great views and good times all around.

Very nice walk along the river with many places to get into the water. Mostly on a paved trail so it is an easy walk.

We spent a really nice early fall afternoon out on Hamlin Lake. The temperature was perfect and the bugs were gone. A few years ago we did this in early July and bug spray was a must. The trail took us about 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete. I would plan on at least a couple hours for this trip. We paddled at a fairly good pace and didn't take any breaks along the way. The conditions were also perfect without any wind to slow us down in either direction.
