Presque Isle Park Loop is a 2.2 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Marquette, Michigan that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until November.
A fantastic unexpected loop! We first came to the Presque Isle Park to walk out to the lighthouse. Unfortunately, the gate was closed so we couldn’t do the walk out. Instead, we found this trail to hike. We someone got off the trail about a third of the way in, but then just hopped on the road to the parking lot area, then hopped back on the trail the rest of the way. Beautiful views for most of this hike. These fall foliage views are absolute perfection!
Nice walk. It was chilly but people were taking the black rocks plunge.
This was fun. The second part with the boulders was challenging. I think the difficulty level is harder than the “easy” rating listed here. The 11 year old in our group fell, scrapes her side and turned around to head back before making it to the lighthouse and the 39 year old on our group fell about 7’ into the water, but got up and made it to the lighthouse. The 7 year old, 9 year old and 41 year old made it to the lighthouse without incident along with the 1 year old who was being carried (wouldn’t recommend carrying an infant as it was not very safe to be doing).
Shoreline hike with excellent views of Lake Superior. it's worth jumping in at Black Rocks, so refreshing!
There are a few pretty stellar views of the lake on this shorter loop. About halfway through, the flies got pretty damn bad. I stopped and had about 10 swarming around my legs.
Easy loop with a peaceful setting and incredibly payoff with the views of the lake. On a weekday late afternoon, there was minimal traffic on the road you walk near. Went in July ‘17 and jumped off of the Black Rocks at the point featured on the map. This was an AMAZING experience, but the water was freezing! My guess is it was in the low 50’s. if you choose to do the jump, it helps to be a good swimmer so you can quickly get yourself the couple hundred yards back to shore. 100% worth it, though.
Beautiful walk. Expect people. Good place to paddle board, bike , swim and kayak.
Parked, walked out to the lighthouse, and then almost left without realizing there is a loop up the hill. So glad I drove up the hill and explored around the loop because this ended up being a highlight of my trip to the UP. Black rocks, crystal clear water, and lots of great spots to swim and explore.
