Very nice county park. Well groomed, wide trails passing through meadows and woods. Not a whole lot of people and a quiet retreat right in the city. If you are looking for quiet stay away from the outer trails near Baldwin.

Very nice trail through the woods. It was pretty darn buggy this evening- glad we had some bug spray!

Gorgeous. The trail markers are easy to follow. And there are plenty of benches to sit down and relax if you need to. This was the first time walking it, but it won’t be our last.

These trails are great because you can choose a long route or a short route depending on what you’re in the mood for. Trails are well marked with maps at every fork. The trail mapped in the picture starts at the dog park so there are more trail options if you park at one of the other park entrances.

Orion Oaks is a fairly flat trail with some mild hills. Some grassy trails, mostly dirt trails through the forest. We came across 2 bridges. Not busy at all early in the morning. I will definitely return.

Lovely place with lots of trails but wasn’t a fan of all the open meadow trail walking, especially on this warm, sunny day. Quiet though! APR: 3

There’s actually way more trails in Orion oaks beyond this little one. It’s one of our favorite places to go. Plenty of options regarding length of hike. Lots of pretty sights to see, water, forest, open plains. Good birdwatching too!

Trails are a mix of snow, ice, and mud. Crampons make it easier to handle the hills on ice. I’m officially a 4 season hiker today.

By far my favorite trail. This map only shows the top loop, but we hiked the entire outside ring on a cool saturday morning. It was about 6 miles. If you enter at Baldwin road, you can exit the park and head onto the sidewalk at Clarkston road. This will take you to the dog park, where you can sit and have a snack and watch dogs. You can get back onto the trails from inside the dog park. Great trail on a cool day.
