Cool falls and nice trails but way too many ticks in the latter half of the 6.5 mi. loop. Insect and tick repellent are must haves for the doing the loop trail

The 0.3 miles referenced for this trail is just the paved pathway to the tiny ‘falls’ that are supposedly the biggest in the lower peninsula. There are two outhouses (that were closed when we were there due to Covid; but there was still a portapotty). Anyway, check out the falls, but then keep going for up to six miles of trails. We did a 5-mile loop, turning back at marker 7 (the overlook). The trails are among the best marked we’ve seen; each marker had a full trail map on the post. You can walk two people across the entire time. It’s an easy hike, mostly flat with some muddy spots. Wear tennis shoes, not for the difficulty of the terrain, but because much of the trail is covered in pine needles that got in through the openings in my hiking sandals. We only passed two small benches (at marker 6 and around marker 3). We saw a toad and a couple chipmunks but not much else for animals. A little buggy in spots and my husband actually had to pull a tick out of my ankle, so wear bug spray.

All accessible path the the "falls". More like rapids than falls. Beautiful and easy hike off the ramp follows the river. If you head upstream the trail is a bit rougher, but still easy enough. Great spot for hiking with your dog, fishing, or just sitting and listening to nature.

It’s a very short trail but very pretty to visit. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area.

Follow the river, jump over the river...just follow the path that seems right for you. It is a beautiful landscape.

Off to the right of the falls is a nice hiking path. Is a little over 4 miles total. Small falls area that is pretty and easily accessed. Was nice for our 2 dogs

This is a short walk from a parking lot to a small drop in water elevation. Can it be called a “Falls”? certainly by Michigan standards this is a fall. However, a real waterfall would be Multnomah falls in Oregon. I rate it a 1 star simply because its not a hike and not a real “falls”.

The falls are very easily accessed. The trail itself is beautiful. Clearly marked with helpful maps, also cleared pretty well. But also little trails to venture off on. Quite fun, but the bugs were horrific near the river this time of year, almost turned us around.

Super easy, paved trail that leads to the falls.

Nice scenery. Quick walk. First part is a paved walkway and other parts are dirt. It would be great spot for lunch/picnic.

Very nice hike. The falls are right by the parking lot and then there's a few different loops with several miles of hiking. Beautiful trails. Went in October and got to see salmon jumping out of the river. I will be back!
