Lovely trail for a lovely fall day. Forrest and river and meadow; relatively flat or lots of up and down, depending on your preference; wide gravel paths or narrow dirt paths, ditto.

For such a busy place, I felt like I had plenty of times on my hike to feel like I was alone. As long as you stay off the path that follows the river, you may see the occasional runner on a Sunday morning walk.

Beautiful! Great hills. Shaded areas. Quiet, loved this trail! Could use more markers for beginners. Path was well maintained. Poison ivy and bug spray needed just like everywhere.

Was at the Arb 5/21. The peonies are very close to bloom. Was laying out a Sierra Club hike, aiming for maximum gross elevation. AllTrails says the track has 482' gross elevation change, which seems greatly understated; CalTopo puts it at 902', my GPS had it at 948'. Goal was 1,000' in 4 miles.

Clear paths and beautiful views. If you want to fight the hills, start left. Semi a challenge but a great workout. Friendly people and doggos. Barely anyone there for a Saturday morning. I couldn’t follow the map layout due to GPS so I kinda did my thing. Highly recommend.

I think this is a gem in Ann Arbor and even Washtenaw County. My friend and I have taken the bus down from Ypsilanti, spent the day in the Arb, and then walked the b2b path back several times. It’s exciting finding every trail there is over the time I’ve spent going. Really enjoyable and I always recommend it.

Get out to the Arb now - just hitting peak color. Probably have a week left. Was out to shoot some pictures this morning and the colors are really coming in. Get off the main trail onto the secondary trails to be immersed in gold and yellow. Posted new trail photos here, more on my website johnmetzler.smugmug.com

great way to escape into nature when in the great city of Ann Arbor. There's always a decent number of people in there. Always better to leave the Arb before it gets completely dark, but otherwise VERY safe.

It was great! Beautiful sites, and alot of yelling at the people in kayak’s. As you walk there’s different fields and a lot of trails that’ll have you lost. I was trying to find the way to my car for like 30 minutes with 3 people. But we were taking every turn we saw. You should go!

Great variety. Beautiful scenery and informational signage. Lots of people depending on the time of day and year. In the middle of the city so not very isolated feeling.

Enough traffic that I never felt alone and vulnerable walking with my dog. Nice to see people really making use of their Arb on a consistent basis. Some nice forested areas, open grassy field towards the back, views of the river. Off the main trail you can find some decent hills.

Really nice trails good for running and or just a nice walk after work. Not hard but there are some hills that can get you to break a sweat if you want.

The Arb is small, but, as others note, has enough hills that you can get a fair bit of up and down. The many side trails offer more woodsy scenery and fewer people than the main trails. Using the side trails, it is fairly easy to string together 4 or so miles with no retracing your steps and get a total of 1000 feet of ascent. There is a spot along the Huron where you can cross the railroad tracks and walk along the river down to Gallup park. It is also very common to see deer in the park, geese, egrets, and herons along the river.

At such a convenient location, this arboretum is great for a quick trail running. It has got inclines and declines, paved and dirt, steeps and flats. The only complaint is that it is really a small arboretum. Things probably get boring after a few visits. But again, the location outweighs the space limitation.

Great place for hill training repeats. Lots of steady incline for 1200 meters up and down.
