with all of the rain this spring, I wasn't sure whether the trail would have puddles or not. I was surprised that the trail heading east from South Haven was in good shape. We rode 7.5 miles east from South Haven before turning around to go back. I can't wait to come back and ride the trail again and hopefully go farther. It is beautiful!

I love this trail mostly for biking but I’ve hiked a portion of it. Very wide and beautiful, clean and long!

Great for biking, hiking, and just enjoying the sounds and sights of nature. This trail is used by many and therefore becomes a ”safe” trail to use. Much is a hard pack surface but it does turn to gravel as you travel west. There are few places along the route for restroom breaks and there are no shelters. Come prepared.

If you're doing the entire Kal-Haven Trail, there are many places to stop for food and rest. The trail keeps you safe the entire trip with great signage.

Very convenient location for a vacationer in South Haven. If you're looking for a flat course to do distance, this is it. You share the path with bikes, but it wasn't too crowded. Also, the Black River running along the trail is perfect for kayaking.

Love this trail. I run and bike about 1,500 miles a year on the Kal. Lots of scenery, decent number of rest stops, never too far from a town.

Great for small sections (bike or walk), or long hikes.

Fantastic afternoon bike ride. Well maintained packed dirt trail that road bikes can easily handle. I recommend starting in Kalamazoo as the trail will end in South Haven, just a short mile through town from the Lake Michigan beaches.

Grew up biking on the Kal Haven. Its flat and runs from ~35 miles from Lake Michigan to Kalamazoo through woods and farms. Overall its a great rail trail.

Great trail. Absolutely beautiful scenery and wildlife. Have done a full moon ride on it without lights and the moon illuminated the path perfectly! Didn't ride with a road bike due to the terrain you are riding on.

I've been riding this trail for the last 10 years and love it! Through the woods from Kalamazoo to South Haven. Go all the way through to the beach in South Haven or into downtown Kalamzaoo and grab a beer at Bells Brewery. The trail is crushed limestone, hard pack so not ideal for real road bikes. I use a hybrid Trek with a little more purchase with the tires and it's good. Last year I ended up sitting along the trail for over an hour watching a meadow full of humming birds.
