This trail is very easy and you don't have to go very far down the trail to enjoy the falls and beautiful canyon. The trail is a natural playground, so many fun nooks and crannies to explore! You will have to be on the look out for tree roots, huge boulders and even the boardwalks are a little uneven in spots. If you’re taking small children, you’ll have to keep a very close eye on them because there are many dangerous places where they could fall into the rushing water. Most of the trail is nicely shaded with the beautiful canopy above.

HikingGreat!

Fun and easy to do with the family. I really enjoyed this hike but be cautious and careful with 5-7 year olds. Kinda steep and the current was very well...S.T.R.O.N.G. So keep the kids(9+should be fine. :) ) Away from the water. Other than that, HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Written by the 9y/o son)

Great place! We loved the gorge and waterfalls. Follow the gorge and you’ll keep seeing the beauty of nature. When you stop seeing the river (and only forest) you won’t see it again.. We would have stopped had we known that.

Stunning One of the best trails I have seen yet in MI. Such a lovely surprise off a little roadside park.

This is one of those places you need to go to. It is one of the best waterfalls I have been to. There are spots where people were jumping off into the water from the cliffs, it was amusing to watch. There is a rope swing on the other side of the river after the falls, if you spot that you can get an idea of where to jump from. Probably not a good idea to try it if you don’t know how deep it is though. The hike itself is very enjoyable and you could spend a day here around the gorge. So stunning to see something like this. The people cleared out while I was there in mid afternoon and I had it to myself for a bit. Do not miss this place.

Very easy, and doesn’t take long at all to get to the falls and beautiful canyon. Breathtaking views! The trail is a natural playground. So many fun nooks and crannies to explore! You will have to be on the look out for tree roots, huge boulders and even the boardwalks are a little uneven in spots. Sooooo worth it. I loved the trail, bumps and all! If you’re taking small children you’ll have to keep a very close eye on them because there are many dangerous places where they could fall into the rushing water. Quite a few dogs were on the trail, so it’s pet friendly. The day we went was super hot, but most of the trail is so nicely shaded with the beautiful canopy above that it wasn’t bad. There were a lot of people there when we went, but it wasn’t too difficult because there are so many places to check out and visit. A+

Absolutely beautiful! Just make sure to walk in the middle of the boardwalk or else the planks may wack you in the face like a looney tune cartoon.

went to see the waterfalls today, had a pretty good storm last night that knocked over a few trees which is to be expected and it was alittle muddy, but some of the wooden pathways have missing boards which can be easily missed and tripped on. other then that, the trail is great! if you can get in the water you should, there are several parts where you can dip your feet and on part you can jump in the water! alot of people seemed to be wearing flip flops but I would strongly suggest shoes or boots because there are aloy of places where you need to watch your footing.

I got there early enough so that it wasn’t too crowded and I was able to see the waterfall alone - super easy and not too buggy - perfect morning walk

Great place to stop and check out. Beautiful gorge with a waterfall. Took my pup, be careful, wet rocks are slippery! Lots of roots and rocks on the trail. Heavy foot traffic.

An easy and beautiful hike in the woods, with a splash of adventure if you choose to “cliff jump” at Canyon Falls!

The big fall is near the beginning of the trail, maybe a 10-minute walk from the parking area. If you just want to see nature, you can do that without breaking a sweat. Beyond that the trail follows the river for a while. Maybe another 10-15-minutes away there’s a high point you can jump off of to the river below and a rope you can climb back up on, though I could recommend going with someone who knows where it is if you want to do that to be safe. While this first section can have people on it, once you get past the jumping spot you’ll encounter fewer people and then no one at all. The second mile of the walk in is increasingly overgrown and buggy. We turned back about 1.8 miles into the 2-mile trail because the bugs got so bad. Other than the bugs, though, it’s easy and incredibly beautiful.

Stunning trail along a rushing river through a steep-walled canyon. So glad we stopped! We walked about 0.8 mile in before turning back - I think we saw the most dramatic parts of the trail - the river opened up after that and the trail left the river’s edge.

The easy walk was fresh and gorgeous through the woods next to the rushing river with multiple rapids/small falls, finishing at the big, powerful Canyon Falls. Walkers must step over and around roots and rocks but the walk is quite easy and dog friendly. Picturesque for photos, too.

The first part of this trail is easy but if you extend the trail beyond the waterfall to the right you are rewarded with some more technical trail and beautiful views of cascading water down a narrow Canyon. Where everybody else turns around look for blue markers up off to the right.

Very nice river, and really good for trail running after the river area. A lot of mosquitoes at the moment.
