A fair bit of the trail is out & back, but has some nice hills, pretty glacial topography. The Outlaw Loop south of Chenango would add another loop at the far end of the out-and-back portion.

Beautiful rolling hills! Lots of trees. Wide trail for horses and dogs. Sandy in some areas. I loved it! APR: 3

Cool network of trails. I go here all the time in the winter when nobody is around. Also cool on cross country skis.

I enjoyed the trail. I did the whole loop with my dog. It was challenging at points. It is very sandy and you do have to watch for the horse poop piles. Not too many bugs. I didnt run into any other hikers on the trail and only saw 5 people on horses. I can't wait to try this hike more in the fall when the leaves are changing it will be beautiful.

My only complaint is it’s super sandy and tons of horse poop but it gets better part way through.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL hike and seeing the horses out enjoying the trail was fun. We did encounter one exceptionally rude person who said hikers were NOT allowed on her horse trail. We are still scratching our heads and wondering where she got that idea from? Nothing posted about no hikers! Sure hopes she reads this. The beauty of the hike and the perfect weather surpassed her attitude and we shook it off. We will be back!!!!

We did 7.5 miles in 2 hours, 35 minutes. For some reason the record feature did not record the entire hike. There were sandy areas, packed areas, and some steep grades, but otherwise a nice trail! A couple small muddy areas, but very easy to traverse around. It is an equestrian trail, so definitely watch for poop!

First to Review

I hiked the Brighton Bridle Trail out to Chenango Lake and back with the Sierra Club Crossroads group. Nice little hike, saw no horses on the route, but did see evidence some had been on the trails very recently at the eastern end, near the parking lot. It was a sunny, 40-degree day, but we had about 6" of snow a few days before.
